Green Life - Sanrinsha: Heaven in the mountains

While driving on Rt. 166 from Tenri to Kushimoto (Wakayama Pref.) we were amazed with how beautiful the landscape around us was.
We got hungry and started looking for a place to eat. Everything was closed due to some local holiday. Finally somewhere between Haze and Matusaka we noticed a tiny little eatery next to tiny deli with still open door. When we finally got out of our car the door the eatery was closed. We did not give up. We were hungry. We knocked. Out came a wonderful local woman with a big smile. She let us in, and after many, many words, sounds and gesticulations we were able to order our "fish only" lunch. After a delicious fish and....beef :-) meal we pointed at the map that was hanging on the wall and asked for minshuku. The lady grabbed the phone and made few calls for us.
We decided on Green Life / Sanrinsha Pension.
We thanked the lady and went back on Rt. 166 to look for the pension.
We arrived at the pension 20 min later and were delighted with its style, location, fantastic host and of course the price.

Green Life/Sanrinsha Pension is a Japanese style guest house with rooms containing tatami mats, table, TV, AC and balcony overlooking beautiful river.
Toilets are located on every floor, and the little cute onsen (hot bath) is located on the first floor. There is also a laundry machine, which I took a great advantage of (yes, we did have a tone of laundry by then).
The pension has also beautiful dining room where our fabulous breakfast and dinner were served to us (included in the price).
The wide stairs lead to the river, where you can swim, catch some fish or just enjoy watching fireflies at night. The pension also had tennis courts and another building with pottery and craft classes.
There is a small pedestrian bridge that will take you on the other bank where the post office, restaurant and the pottery park "Nizi no izumi" was located.

We enjoyed greatly our stay in Green Life Pension. It was first Japanese style place we stayed during our trip to Japan and it was by far the best place.

We would stay in this place again, and I hope some day we will ;-)

P.S. The staff speaks pretty good English and there is no problem with communication
