Pleasant, Convenient - Right in the Train Station!
When my little team of backpackers arrived in Kurashiki, we were exhausted and not quite sure how to find a cheap little minshuku for ourselves. But then we realized that there was a hotel right there in the train station! How convenient! It was more expensive that we usually were willing to fork out, but it just seemed so modern (actual beds - no floor mats!) and so convenient. And it really was a nice stay. The rooms were a little small, but very recently refurbished and comfortable. Quiet in spite of its location. Beautiful views of Tivoli Park from the window. Nice breakfast buffet in the morning.
Unique Quality: If you're going to Tivoli Park, this hotel does complement the visit very well -- great views overlooking the park grounds, and a charming ramp leading out the back of the train station straight to the park entrance.
If you have a Japan Rail Pass, because this hotel is part of the JR System, you get a discount!
