Travel Tips for Okayama

My Okayama Page

by Beachcomber

Okayama is said to be a good place to live in japan known for it's climate and also it's famous peach (which is huge and delicious).

The Okayama castle is really old and ancient. As one steps inside they notice the air-condioning and lift and other technological advances. It is still very traditional though. You can climb to the top floor and you can enjoy a nice view of okayama and the okayama korakuen (japanese garden). Inside the castle there are many exhibits to look at. Just looking at the castle makes you feel as though you are in japan 1000 years ago and samurai's guard the temple. Today it is a tourist attraction but does retain traditional japanese architecture and a wealth of history.

The Okayama Korakuen is a must see if you are in the Okayama area. It is a very beautiful and well cared for Japanese garden. It is a great way to spend a few hours to relax or admire the gardens.

Okayama is a really nice part of Japan. It hasn't got the skyscrapers like Tokyo, Osaka and kobe which makes it more rural.

Kurashiki in Okayama is particuarly nice especially in the rural area.

The seto sea is beautiful. It has little Islands all through the sea which looks magnificent. Also the worlds longest suspension bridge runs through the seto sea to Shikoku.

Okayama is a nice peacful break from The big cities of Osaka and Tokyo. In Okayama you will see rice paddys and traditional style Japanese houses not towering apartment blocks.

I highly recomend visiting Okayama prefecture.
Of course there are more things to do and see in Okayama which I haven't been to. With all the things offered here you will be able to experience a lot of Japan.
Have fun if you decide to visit okayama
