Okayama City is most famous for being the birthplace of the legend of Momotaro, the Peach Boy. It's arguably the most famous and well-known Japanese folktale in the world. Peaches grown in Okayama are known for being the best in Japan, (as are their grapes)! I can conquer that Okayama peaches are definitely the best peaches I've ever had! It may be strange to miss a fruit, but I really do miss eating those peaches!
The most famous attractions in Okayama are the Korakuen Garden and Okayama Castle. Once travelers finish seeing these sights, they often seem to complain that the city has nothing else to offer, but that's just not true!
There are many museums, more gardens, temples, shrines and famous festivals in the city! The problem is that most tours and guide books only focus on those two attractions, so tourists simply don't know where to go! With a little more planning, you will find that Okayama is not at all boring! It's a beautiful city with many nice places to visit!
