The Rest of the Statues
This statue is only slightly different from the previous one (the last picture in the first album). He's still sitting, but he's looking to the side, maybe at passerbys, a good sale at one of the shops, or the next statue...
The Dog sitting obediantly, although the angle of the photo makes him look a bit like a bear cub.
The pheasant looking pristine. I never really associate pheasants with Japan, but the Japanese pheasant (green pheasant) was actually unofficially declared the national bird in 1947. Momotaro's pheasant is also the mascot of the Fagiano Football (soccer) Team in Okayama, so he's done quite well since his days of killing ogre's with Momotaro!
This time you can tell it's a dog!
The Monkey appears to be sad and lonely. Must be before he met Momotaro.
The dog itching (hopefully not fleas!).
The Monkey sitting pretty. Notice how the monkey and the dog both had more statues than the pheasant. Probably because they could be made in a greater variety of poses, but let's not dismiss the conspiracy theories...
Momotaro thinking (or singing Skinnamarink). This is the last of the statues along Momotaro-odori street!
