Momotaro Statues
"One Too Many Companions!"
I tried to take photos of each of the statues along Momotaro-Odori Street. If I missed any, feel free to let me know and post the pictures! haha.
There is something that doesn't belong on the statue above. Can you spot it?
Aside from the one in front of the station, all of the statues of Momotaro depict him in his youth.
From the station, these first statues allign the right side of the street.
This one looks a little creepy with those hollow eyes; like the child from the Grudge!
This is Momotaro's companion, the Monkey.
This is his companion, the Pheasant. This may be my favorite statue along the road. I think it's got "flare"! (Of course, the Riverside Peachbaby is my absolute favorite, as it's the grand finale of the statues. Plus, "Riverside Peach Baby" is just too funny a name.)
This is the third of Momotaro's friends, the Dog. He looks like he's barking or excited. Perhaps this is when Momotaro feeds him the kibi dango! (Okayama is also famous for kibi dango, which originated here and is part of the story)
Momotaro's Monkey friend in a new, very awkard pose.
Young Momotaro looking pensive or maybe a little impatient...
This is the last statue on the righthand side of Momotaro-odori.
Beginning on the left side of the street (this would be from the farthest point walking towards the station)
