Renaissance Resort: Treating Yourself to Luxury

by okinawa_wave

Although expensive, if you have the money to splurge, this is a very nice place to stay. If you are a family, you will be happy to know there are plenty of activities to keep the kids busy during the summer. The service is excellent and the location is set along Onna's beautiful coastline. The only drawback is that the beach is quite small.

Large outdoor pool and indoor heated pool. There are several restaurants, a few with great ocean views and another that offers underwater views! Renaissance also provides all the activities you would expect to find at a top resort: jet skis, parasailing, sunset cruises, and much more. There is also a program where you can interact with captive dolphins.

Okinawa International Youth Hostel: Okinawa International Youth Hostel

by matt_of_asia

A clean beautiful modern hostel about a 5-10min walk from the monorail access to get around to the rest of the island. Its beside a big park and has separate male/female onsen style baths inside.
I enjoyed my stay here a lot.

a) its Quiet
b) the people are friendly and the employees have decent english.
c) its by a big sports park and you can wander around and look at a temple nearby and some cool statues or just watch people.
d) its 10 mins from the light rail station.
e) as i said above a nice onsen.

It wasnt busy when i went which probably colors my opinion.

Leaf Inn: Tokashima Island

by kaorichan

We arrived in the main island of Okinawa and decided to get off and explore one of MANY smaller islands accessible by boat. The one we chose was called "Tokashima Island". The boat ride was an hour but a little bumpy, it was ALL worth it though. Once we got off the boat, we took a bus for people who were only staying on the island for the day. We ended up at LEAF INN. Although they basically had this bus to lure people to rent out one of their outdoor activities like snorkel gear and canoes, they were actually very nice and friendly people who were just really doing there job. I mean the only way to make mony for these people on this islnad is the tourits renting their gear. We were talking to one of the guys there and told them we had no place to stay and he said he had one room available here!! PERFECT!!! Although it was a bit pricey, its expected because of high season, but next time we'll book in advance. The island has a bunch of other INNS and PENSIONS but all in all ours was pretty descent. Shower and toilet in your rooms and the staff are very very nice.

Steps from the " AHAREN BEACH" beach.
Breakfast and Lunch included if requested.
Tiny restaurants.
Friendly people everywhere!!! Only 500 people live on this island

Hotel Nikko Alivila Yomitan Resort: Elegance on Okinawa

by okinawa_wave

Alivila resort sits on Okinawa's west coast overlooking the sparkling East China Sea. It has excellent service and its facilities are top class. What's nice about this hotel is that it offers a very personalized feeling with everything that you would expect from a large international resort. It was designed with Spanish-style decor, which blends well with Okinawa's environment. Alivila is one of the best resorts on Okinawa and I would recommend it to anyone wishing to spend extra money for comfort.

Alivila has an outstanding view of the sea and spectacular sunsets. Almost every room has an unspoiled view. The resort also has a very nice pool with free live entertainment and fireworks during the summertime. You can sit poolside and enjoy an evening cocktail or a swim while warm breezes and music flow through the air. There are several restaurants and snack bars offering a variety of food and shops selling everything from clothing to souvenirs. The hotel beach features white sand and clear water waiting for you to indulge in just about any kind of marine activity imaginable. The hotel is surrounded by green sugar cane fields and sits alone, giving guests a peaceful and relaxing experience.

Hotel Grand Mer: Nice Place along the Coast

by pgj579

The Hotel Grand Mer is a nice hotel along the coast ok Okinawa, near Naha. It has great views of the Nakagusuku Bay. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the hotel had a very good restaurant on the premise. However, it seemed to be rather isolated from other restaurant districts, sight-seeing areas, and beaches in Okinawa. There was no ATM at the hotel, so getting cash was inconvenient, and taxi rides from the hotel to other places in the area tended to be expensive.

Harumi International Youth hostel: Super hostel!

by seoulgirl

Seven men to a room...although the most ever in the room at one time was 3. There is also a small balcony in the back of the room which was nice to open and have fresh ocean air blow through.

They had a Mac. to surf the net and check email for 100 yen ($.91) per hour. There were all kinds of books...in Japanese of course. It was a nice spot to hang out with the other tourists, all of whom were Japanese with limited English. (Thank god I brought a couple of flasks of whiskey to loosen things up).

The kitchen is in the back. They served us a Japanese breakfast every morning for 600 yen ($5.50) It consisted of scrambled eggs, shredded cabbage, slice of ham, cheese, orange, apple tomato, pineapple, toast, and a glass of juice. The hostel cost 3,000 yen ($27.52) per night, much cheaper than the hotels in the area. In case anyones interested, the address is Tomari, Naha-shi, Okinawa-ken 900-0012 Japan. Ph# 81-98-867-3218. You can find them on the International Youth Hostel web site.

Suncoast hotel: Nice location, nice rooms, nice view!

by JoannaMoon

The hotel is in Nago city, which is two - three hours drive from Naha to north, right on the beach side. The room includes a Japanese style room, a twin bed room and a dinning room! The balcony is very cozy with a great view to the beach.
A fantastic Okinawan restaurent and a 24 hours convinience store is right down the hotel on the beach side. The food and the AWAMORI(Okinawa alcohol) in the restaurent was awasome.

A-Man Guesthouse: Cheap and convenient!!

by His_Beloved

This place is the typical hole in the wall accomodation option for anyone on a tight budget. It's cheap and central - Kokusai-dori (International Street) and the bus station are both within a five minute walking distance. A bed in the dormitory is only 1500 yen, a single is 3000 yen, and a double is 4000 yen per night. The owners (who run a restaurant downstairs from the dorm) don't speak much English, so it might be best to fax your reservation request.

You can also get a discount on car rentals through this guesthouse, and parking is only 500 yen a night.

Private rooms have a tv, fridge, and coin air-com, but the rooms are very small and uncomfortable for lounging around.

The dorm area has a shower, coin laundry, fridge, hot water pot, microwave, and a Japanese style lounge area. Check out the website for a map - sorry, it's only in Japanese, but you should get an idea of what the place is like.
