We will only be there one night and our flight leaves the next day at 17:30.
Which location would be most convenient? We need to decide ASAP.

Thank you!

I really recommend to stay at Nanba( called Minami), because Nanba is one of the exciting area in Osaka and is close to Kansai International Airport.

For further information, see the following website.

Thank you for your reply. I made a booking with hotel Dotonbori last night.
The good thing is that it should be easy to find with those sculptures in the front :)

Glad that you chose to stay in Namba. There's not much around Osaka Station.

Travel Tips for Osaka

When you need a breather in the city

by yukisanto

If you ever feel you need to get some space and greenery for a while when you're in the city of Osaka, go to Namba parks shopping mall. Take the glass lift to the highest floor (8th?) Right on the top floor, there is kinda like a rooftop space with amphitheatre. Good place to rest and chill for a while, look down at the city below you while you feel the wind in your face.

We flew Japan Airlines (JAL)

by tompt

To get to Osaka we flew from Amsterdam to Tokyo (Narita) and from there took a connecting flight to Osaka (Haneda).
Osaka also has a brandnew international airport, it is called Kansai.

JAL planes are fine because everyone has its own screen in the seat in front of him. On this screen you can watch one of the seven or eight movies they are showing, or play a game.

See the JAL website for more detailed information on flights and online booking.

Buffet with a View!

by Hewer about World Buffet

This restaurant is all about the view. World Buffet basically takes up half of the 48th floor of the World Trade Center in Osaka harbour. It's a great place to go to if you are new to the city and a good place to take visitors. You can see most of the city on a clear day.

They have about 20 different dishes and salads, as well as a chef on hand to prepare some meat dishes while you wait. The service is a little bit erratic and the ambience is barely a notch above that of a department store food court, however the view is excellent. I don't really have a favourite dish here but the seafood is pretty good.

The restaurant is open for lunch from 11am to 3pm. It costs 1575 yen for adults. For kids, multiply their age by 105, e.g. a five year old is charged 525 yen.

Fo dinner, adults pay 3150 yen and for kids, multiply their age by 210 to get a yen figure. Interesting way of doing it! The World Buffet is open for dinner from 5pm to 10pm, with last guests seated at 9:30pm. Adults can add 1450 yen for unlimited beer and wine service.

the 24-relaxing spa

by kimbee_vergara

If you are looking for a place to relax your body, then this spa is highly recommended. It somewhat resembles an inner-city resort. In total, there are 16 different kinds of spas and open baths originating in 11 different countries. The place is a favorite among local residents and tourists alike. There are also swimming and bathing pools for both sexes and even some boarding accommodations.

Osaka Tenmangu Shrine

by Rabbityama

Although it is not one of the official top three tenjin shrines, Osaka Tenmangu has gained fame as the host of the Tenjin Festival, one of the biggest festivals in Japan. The current shrine dates back to 1845, but the history of the shrine is hundreds of years old. Like all tenjin shrines, it was built for the deity Susano no Michizane.

Entrance to the shrine grounds is free.
