Packing List
by rmiya84778
Umbrella! In Osaka weather is usually very hot with rainy season in June. Weather can be so
strange in this city. I see many people carrying umbrellas even when skys are clear. Weather can change suddenly so I now always bring umbrella or hotel will supply. A good raincoat also is advisable. Aspirin. I learn from experiance that if you need to get anywhere in Japan, you must go to drug store and the hours are similar to bank. Here in USA, you can get aspirin anywhere and at anytime. In Japan, I could not find when I needed until store opened. Grocery stores do not sell, medicine of any type. Must get from drug stores only.
In Tokyo, I have heard there are 24 hour pharmacys? In Japan, camera equiptment is readily available.
Some places you can actually get camera's from vending machines! (throwaway types) Film and batteries available everywhere, dept stores, conveince stores, vending machines.
I notice too that if you go to camera shop and find clerk who speaks English, you get get excellent camera tips and advise! I had friends with me who were my interpertors so any time I needed advice I was able to get!!
I usually bring along three camera's with me and all Japanese made or brand only.
Hard Rock Cafe Osaka
by rmiya84778 about HRC - Hard Rock Cafe Osaka
HRC Osaka has a pink Cadillac above the doors as you walk into the restaurant. It also features a guitar-shaped bar and lots of rock memorabilia for all Hard Rock fans. The restaurant features a Steve Vai guitar bar and a guitar stage shaped as a tribute to B.B. King's Lucille guitar. At the center stage, a stained-glass wall features Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, and John Lennon. Restaurant serves American style food!
HRC Burger & Cheesburger. My favorite item from the menu, Burger is lightly seasoned with tomato, lettuce, onions on side and served on a fresh toasted bun. Heinz mustard and ketchup available. One of few places in Japan where a burger tastes like ones from USA! Same with the fries, Yummy! Choice of drinks from bar include beer, sodas, juice,
wine. casual

Dotombori Bridge
by mikegr
PLEASE NOTE: it has been brought to my attention that some people think that the road bridge (on Midosuji) is what is referred to as the Dotombori Bridge. This is not the case. the Dotombori bridge is the foot bridge just East of the road bridge (it currently has heavy construction on it). This is particularly important if you arrange to use this as a place to meet someone (I sepnt last night waiting there while my friend was on the road bridge!)
Dotombori Bridge is a great place to hang out and people watch at any time, but by far and a way the best time to visit the bridge is after a major sporting event (notably the end of the baseball league season). At these times, fanatic supporters strip off naked and jump from the bridge into the filthy canal below.
A friend of mine jumped in after the 2002 World Cup (not voluntarily, I should add - another friend had managed to get hold of a megaphone and announced to the crowds that he was David Beckhams brother, and he was pushed!!!!!) and was ill for quite a while after - make sure you are up to date with your shots if you intend to join in! (I should also add that shortly after the 2002 World Cup the canal was dredged as part of a clean up program and a dead body was pulled up out of the water - nice).
Not to be missed!

Mostly fashion, accessories, useless nick-nacks...
The building is unique, you can ride the ferris wheel for about $700 yen and get a nice view and even if you don't buy anything, it is fun to look and people watch!
