Ryokan / Minshuku assistance needed

by Popoff

Hi myself and two friend will be staying in Osaka in April next year but only for two nights. We are looking for a good but cheap ryokan or minshuku that is not too far from kansai airport that has private rooms for three people. I have tried to search the internet but have found it difficult to locate any suitable ones.

If anyone can offer any assistance I would be very grateful.

Many Thanks

Pete

Not familiar with the Kansai area but you may wanna try this website

http://www.japaneseguesthouses.com/index.htm

stroll down to the map and click on the Kansai region, there are several choices with description and price.

I had made reservation via this website couple times before and things turned out okay. Especially if you don't speak or understand Japanese, they will take care of the reservation and enquiry. The only shortcoming is: there may be not many choices in some areas.

Travel Tips for Osaka

Morinomiya

by akikonomu

Stop at Morinomiya JR instead and make your way to Osakajo through the park. You're likely to get that much needed shade from the terrible summer sun as well as the winds.

You'll end up on the side of the castle grounds where you can see the dojo and the moat.

Look at how the trees in the park seem to be wind beaten.

Using the osaka unlimited pass

by yukisanto

The osaka unlimited pass is a steal at 2000yen for a day. Not only do you get to go around in subways and buses for free the whole day, you get to enter quite a few tourist places for free. The way it goes, if you go to 4 tourist attractions in a day, it easily exceeds 2000yen for the entrance fess and transport. Go get it at the visitor centre near Osaka station/ umeda subway.

Delicious HAMBURGERS in Osaka!

by rmiya84778 about Fast Food Style Restaurants

Hamburgers! In Osaka you can get very good Hamburgers!
My favorites in Osaka are at Hard Rock Cafe Osaka, Mos Burger, Lotteria, Freshness Burger and McDonalds! In Osaka and in restaurants all over Japan, you usually do not have to wait long when ordering! (Unless very busy, and still short wait) I have noticed big difference in service, and when your order is delivered to you, you always get smile and Thank You! I hear 'domo arrigato gozamasta' every time I leave restaurants in Japan!

In mainland USA, service in fast food restaurants is so terrible as compared to Japan.(my opinion and experiance) At Hard Rock Cafe, Hamburgers are expensive.
(around 1,200 yen to 1,800 yen, not sure) Very DELICIOUS at Hard Rock Cafe. Taste is so similar to American made and will satisfy craving for American hamburger. You can even get Heinz Mustard and Ketchup!!!

At Mos Burger, the taste is so different yet so delicious. Portions are too small, I have to order in multiples to get full meal. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches served here along with other items. My favorite is Teriyaki Burger.

At Lotteria, service and food is so similar to Mos Burger. My favorite at Lotteria is the Chicken and desserts/ice cream offered. The hamburgers are very good here, yet I prefer Mos Burgers and Mc Donalds.

At Mc Donalds, taste is so much better than American hamburger. I will usually have Teriyaki burgers here too! Menu is similar to American McDonalds. Cost more too!

In 2002, as I was taking walk in morning from my hotel I came across Freshness Burger. DELICIOUS BURGERS & FRIES HERE! Portions are too small.

Take a nap

by kyoub

There are personal refresh rooms at the airport also.
They are small and they only allow one person at a time inside.
If you are very tired from a long flight then they are worth the price.
I forget what the price was but my husband got one for 4 hrs.
I wanted to be out where I could see something.

Sayonara, Osaka!

by stamporama

Locals admit that there's not much to see in Osaka. Even the castle there is not regarded as a must-see for it's practically a museum that looks like a castle (though originally it was one). But the main draw for Japan's second largest city is the nightlife, which is centered around the Namba area. Here shops, bars and restos abound and cluster along the banks of the river.

Welcome to the Dotonbori street. You know you've reached it when you see this big, moving crab on a resto facade.

On the Ebisu-bashi bridge, you could glimpse the popular (the reason for which I haven't the faintest) neon sign of the Glico man.

City guidebooks will tell you that one of the must-try foods is the okonomiyaki, which is described to be Japanese pancake. Except for its shape, it tastes nothing like a pancake or even a pizza at all. The 'crust' is stuffed with leafy veggies and the whole thing can be topped with fish, chicken, meat or gyoza (dumplings). The size is filling enough for one person. Personally, I tried it just for the experience but did not find it delicious.

So this being our last night in Japan, we finally bade it sayonara!
