from osaka to kyoto and to tokyo

by catleachua

Hi, my husband and I are going to osaka this february, we plan to stay there for 3 nights and then go to kyoto for 3 night and then to tokyo for 4 night and go back again to osaka for a day for our flight home.

My question is, what will be the cheapest and most practical way (what train line in osaka) to go to kyoto and from kyoto to tokyo and then back again to osaka.

And also, I plan to book Uen guesthouse in osaka , Backpacker's hostel K's house in kyoto and Hotel Vista Kamata in Tokyo. Does anyone here knows if these hostels are really near the train station.

Thank you so much . Any advice will be highly appreciated.

hi, with regards to rail travel, i'd like to recommend this website http://www.hyperdia.com/cgi-english/hyperWeb.cgi an absolutely life-saving tool!!!

all you need to do is to input your starting point and end destination, your preferred date and time of departure...and the system will generate a list of the available trains (& connections if any) and the fare prices.

osaka & kyoto aren't too far apart...so your cheapest bet will be to take a local rapid train. but from kyoto to tokyo...the fastest will be to take the shinkasen but will definitely be more expensive.

Ok Osaka to Kyoto is only 30 mins train ride and only 540 yen. Then for your Shinkansen train ticket, either for Kyoto to Tokyo or Tokyo or Osaka, this is what you should do. Go to JTB or JR Tokai Tours and ask for "Puratto Kodoma Economy Plan. You can travel from Tokyo to Shin-Osaka by reserved seat on a kodama train for only 10,000 Yen and will receive one drink for free. The "Puratto Kodama Economy Plan" has to be purchased at least one day before departure. And just to be save, go to this website and print the page :http://www.jrtours.co.jp/kodama/tokyo.html

I don't know the hotel location. But may be you can try Toyoko Inn hotel. They have lots of hotel in every location. And the hotel location usually near to the train station.

Do you know if there is a similar deal from Fukuoka to Osaka? Was looking for a discount travel package for a 1 way ticket on 29th March Hakata-eki to Shin-osaka. I tried looking on the website u gave but not much luck.

Travel Tips for Osaka

OUTSIDE FLOATING GARDEN OBSERVATORY

by Adeline_Foo

After a walk up at the observatory, we came down and found this little resting place just beside the building. The little "park" was bloom with some flowers and thought they were nice & pretty so took some photos of it. After seeing lots of cherry blossoms of white & pink flowers, this mix of yellow & purple flowers were definately a welcome treat to the eyes!

Tsuruhashi Markets

by Hewer

Tsuruhashi is the centre of Japan`s Korean community. The area around Tsuruhashi station is a complex maze of of covered shopping streets and arcades. It`s a great place to buy fresh produce and also Korean craft.

There are many traditional Korean and Japanese restaurants too.
It`s great to wander from stall to stall, taking in the sights and aromas.

Such variety

by huggy93 about Fugetsu

The food was lovely and so filling and although it may have appeared fast food, it was great that my pal could cook on our table.

Just meant that we could chat as the food was being cooked, eat at our leisure as the food was kept warm. Hard to describe okonomiyaki as a Westerner, but was kinda, egg, noodles, lettuce with a sweet / savoury sauce on top.

Can't explain it any more as my mouth is beginning to water with just the thought. "I want some and I want it now!!"

Tilt your head a little to the left and you will be able to see the picture of my dinner guest cooking this great dish ;-)

Universal Studio Japan

ET Adventure was amazing when you riding bicycle that take you feel like in the sky and you can see night scenery just like real thing!

Bring Clothes for changes or just towel or rain coat cause you will get wet in many attractions.
(disposable rain coats for are sold inside the park tho-)

The Aquarium

by globetrott

The Aquarium in Yokohama was the very best I ever saw, because they have basins that are 3 floors high and you can walk down endless corridors of these 3 floors and look into the basis through walls made of glass only and they have some really hughe fishes and other creatures there, that was amazing. A whale-shark was my favorite in that aquarium, you will see it in my main photo. The aquarium also has a tunnel made of glass, see it in my 2nd photo !
