Kamikaze Taxi
by shadowmon
Taxi drivers, can be very crazy in japan. The streets are much smaller than the US and they do drive fast! Oh and don't try to stiff your driver. they'll prevent you grom getting out of the vehicle (The doors have no indoor handles)
All-you-can-eat Mongolian!
by Hewer about Kouyouen
Kouyouen is another cook-it-yourself buffet restaurant. The difference between this and the numerous Korean offerings around town is that the food is fried rather than barbecued. In addition, the only meat you can order is lamb, of which there a few different cuts. They have a limited selection of vegetables (onion, egg-plant, carrots, green peppers) and away you go.
The restaurant is open from 5pm - 11:30pm on weekdays (last order 10:30pm) and 5pm - 10pm (last order 10pm) on weekends and holidays. The buffet has a 90-minutes time limit. It's all about the lamb. It makes a nice change from the usual restaurant fare. Even in barbecue and grill restaurants in Osaka, it is predominantly beek, pork, chicken seafood. It's worth trying for something different. One important tip: If you go to this restaurant I'd recommend designating a cooker and rotating this role because the cooking can become a drag....
The pricing system is complicated and differs according to gender(!):
Men: 3580 yen (food and all drinks) 2380 (food only)
Women: 2980 yen (food and drinks) 1980 (food only)
I know a few women who would make them rethink their pricing policy, particularly for the drinks :-)
Enjoy the Landscape at Osaka Castle
by freddie18
You are visiting the Osaka Castle to see the famous and historical architecture. Moreover, you will definitely be enjoying the natural beauty of its surrounding parks and gardens. They compliment each other.
Osaka Castle looks amazing during the cherry blossom season. When we talk about cherry blossom, it is Japan that comes to our mind. It becomes the symbol of this country. During this time of the year, visitors flock to the castle's ground to picnic and enjoy their life to the fullest.
Come to Japan in the month of April and I can assure you will appreciate the combination of the castle and the cherry blossoms.
Osaka Museum of History
by Rabbityama
The Osaka Museum of History is attached to the NHK building. It houses many ancient artifacts excavated from areas throughout Osaka Prefecture. There are some great examples of haniwa (ceramic objects placed around kofun/burial mounds), as well as paintings, tools, scrolls, and other items. It's a nice museum and there is a great view of Osaka Castle from the stairwell. You can walk over to the NHK building to see if they are filming anything or just look around.
The museum always has special exhibits, so check the website to see what those will be when you arrive.
