Hi All
planning a trip to Osaka from 26th-31st Aug.Anything interesting going on during that time?like festivals?Would it be a probelmn not knowing Japanese?

This deck 170 meters above ground between the towers of the Umeda Sky Building has a circular opening in the center. The building was designed with Paris Arc de Triomphe in mind, and from the observatory one can see all of Osaka and even to Awaji Island.

Where can you go when you have urge for Ice Cream, Bento Box or Sweets and the stations and major grocery stores are all closed at 1:00am in morning? 24 HOUR CONVEINCE STORES all over Osaka and in Japan!
Inside, there is very good selection of fast food items and drinks. I usually get Inari sushi and Chicken along with juice drinks. You can also get Haggan Daz Ice Cream although portions are very small and expensive.
These stores are excellent place for inexpensive meals!
There are so many restaurant around this area. Sea food is on all the menu. Tip on finding a good place to eat.. Follow the crowd and if thers a line outside the rest. you can rest assure that its a good place to eat.. I love there tempuras. They taste so fresh and yummy..
Osaka-jo (Osaka castle) is located fairly centrally in the city, surrounded by parkland. On Sundays the place gets pretty crowded. The entrance ticket is JPY700 and that entitles you to walk around the Nishinomaru Garden. A cheaper ticket can be purchased if you just want to go inside the castle.
The castle dates back to 1959.
I visited here again in 2007, without going inside the castle this time. It was a much brighter day than when I visited in 2004. I took a lot of photos outside the castle and in the surrounding parklands and gardens. One interesting sight that I didn't remember looking at last time was the giant "Takoisi" stone set into the castle's bailey wall just inside the Sakuramon Gate. This single piece of rock is huge and is hard to believe how it could have been moved into position. It has a surface area of 60 square metres and weighs 130 tonnes! It is quite an amazing sight, so keep an eye out for it.
There is so much activity going on on the food floors of the dept stores. It really is a site to watch. Super crowded, food everywhere, vendors yelling out trying to sell the products. There is non-stop energy & if you stop for a moment & take in everything, you might even get dizzy!
The best dept store to visit is Hanshin Dept Store in Umeda. The seafood section is the best! Vendors yelling so loud at the top of their lungs you`d think they go hoarse!
Definitely a place to see if you want to know where the action is!
