Kansai airport to Imperial Osaka hotel + Day trip from Osaka to Mt Fuji

by Mec

Good morning,

Will be on my way to Osaka tmrw for a week ... 2 quick questions to ease my stay:

1 - What are my options to go from Kansai airport to Osaka Imperial hotel (how long, how much, what subway/JR station to dropp off).
2 - Is a day trip to Mt Fuji possible from Osaka? how much, how long is the train ride, where to pick-it up, etc.

Tks for your cooperation

1: please check the following site
http://www.imperialhotel.co.jp/cgi-bin/imperial_hp/index_e.cgi?ac1=EOC&ac2=&Page=hpd_view

2: A day trip to Fuji from Osaka....maybe possible, if you leave Osaka at the early morning. I'm afraind there isn't enough time to get to Gogome which is the rest place at the the middle point of the mountain.
You should take Shinkansen(bullet train) and check the timetable in advance.

Travel Tips for Osaka

The Japanese use CHOPSTICKS ...

by Krystynn

The Japanese use CHOPSTICKS as naturally as the Europeans use forks. They are like an extension of a man's fingers, ya know? Basically, practical adaptations that managed to evolve from the days when man indeed ate with his fingers. Did I just hear you say - barbarian? :-)

Did you also know that there are different styles of chopsticks?

The Chinese variety is blunt on the 'eating end' whilst the Japanese prefer those with pointed tips. (see pic below). There are even short lengths for children for use!

Chopsticks are made of many materials - ivory, plastic, silver and even jade - but the most common ones are of wood or bamboo. For everyday use, wood, bamboo or ivory is best.

All Japanese food is prepared in such a way that it's easy for us to handle it with chopsticks. In fact, many older folks in don't even use a spoon when having their meal.

Well, in short: Practice is the key to success with these centuries-old tools known simply as CHOPSTICKS. Enjoy your meal, my friends.

Wandering aimlessly...

by PartyRambo about Shopping arcade

Near the Hearton Hotel, I wandered after dark past the Osaka JR Station, towards the lights of the Hankyu department store.
There was, for some reason, a well-lit ferris wheel behind the store - perhaps 200-feet tall, so it wasn't just a gimmick!
But, time was short, and after 30 hours of being on my feet, it felt like time to get into bed, and I never got the chance to check it out later.

Italian Resto

by santeria01 about Pasta Frolla

I can't help it. Italian cuisine is also "home" for me wherever I go. We decided to try Pasta Frolla located in the Universal City Walk. I ordered crab pasta over tomato sauce. And I had this juice called Calpis. The pasta is OK though not tasty. I instantly fell for Calpis though. The calpis! heehee

Peace museum

by salisbury3933

Not far from Osaka castle is Osaka Peace Museum, which outlines a lot of went on during WW2. Whilst heavily critical of the US tactics of bombing Japanese cities, the museum also has a room showing clearly some of the atrocities committed by Japanese troops, particularly in China. It doesn't whitewash Japan's shameful history as Nagasaki peace museum does.

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS JAPAN

by kiwigal_1

You may or may not have heard about the latest theme park to arrive in Japan. Universal Studios in Osaka was opened on March 31st 2001. I am yet to visit the park myself but plan to on my next trip to Osaka!
