Hotel Taiyo - How Safe & Convenient?

by freddie18

Anyone stayed at Hotel Taiyo? I am planning to stay in this hotel for 3 nights with my wife and grown-up daughter in May. Please give me an idea if this is a safe and convenient place to stay. The address is 1-2-23, Taishi, Japan. Is it easy to move around to tour the city. Thanks for your help.

Travel Tips for Osaka

Sandwiches-In Japan,...

by rmiya84778

Sandwiches-In Japan, sandwiches are unsual to me the way that they taste and are served. The outsides of the bread are removed and when you receive, it is cut into four squares. Portions are small and best way to describe is this is Japanese style of making. I usually order ham or egg salad. Instead of dill pickles, fresh cucumbers are served. Sandwiches are always served along with garden, potato or macaroni
salad. Again Japanese way of making, will taste different than salads served in USA.

A great selection of quality brews

by Circle88 about Drunk Bears

This little pub hidden away in Osaka`s Northern centre Umeda is a great escape. Lots of quality beer from around the globe(although recently the number has decreased I think) and good food for this type of place. The place is divided into two spaces, the bar area and the restaurant area. I have only frequented the bar area which is great to get away at the end of the day but the restaurant space looks good too. Music is pretty good too differing from the standard pop and rnb onslaught in most commercial places. Prices are varying depending on what you order.
Every 8th of the month people wearing glasses get a 200yen discount on all drinks (I think food too) as its glasses day. Also for 300 yen you can get all-you-can-eat peanuts which I always honour. No dress code

Sumptuous dinner sets

by liangel about Dotonbori Street

Had my mind set on this place when I first saw it. Returned the next day to try the food. You can take a look at the food display downstairs first, it looks really appetising.

Many sets to choose from, so take your time!!

Just look for the giant drummer clown. The display is behind him in the glass case and the restaurant is upstairs

Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan

by Hewer

The aquarium is one of Osaka`s top attractions. It features some 39,000 sea creatures and over 500 species.

The main attraction in the complex is the world`s largest fish tank, which houses a 4.3 meter long whale shark.

You can also sea dolphins, seals and penguins. The overall theme of the complex is pacific marine life.

Open 10am - 8pm (plus extended hours on public holidays)
Entry: 2000 yen (900 yen children 6-16)

Goin loco, down at Ohh saka Jo...

by OsakaHatter

Ah, Osaka-jo. THE symbol of Osaka. THE most visited tourist attraction in Japan (according to my good friends at the Osaka Tourist Board - I can only assume they've never heard of that little anthill known to the wise at Fuji).

You're expecting sarcasm I know. However, I'm sorry, but Osaka-jo is great! From a distance anyway. It looks beautiful and the surrounding park (Osaka-jo koen) is a great place to hang out during the spring, summer and early autumn (although during hanami it is overcrowded). We usually take a football or a frisbee and a few cans of chu-hi, great stuff.

The only disappointment is when you get close to the actual castle, which is when it's complete rebuild at the start of the 20th century becomes apparent - theres even a lift [that'd be elevator for my linguistically unaware readers in North America] attached to the side! The inside is also a complete waste of time, just a few dry displays and a not overly inspiring view of the business park.

That aside though, you can't visit Osaka and not take a trip to see the castle - during the day, to enjoy the park or at night, to see it eirily illuminated against the dark surrounding trees.
