(urgent) place to stay for a night in Osaka

by hojoon0724

hey everyone here

I'm going to be staying in Osaka for a single night on june 9th and the place I was going to stay cancelled my reservation for whatever reason (it was a ryokan and they somehow overbooked and i got the short end of the deal)

I searched on hostels.com and japanican.com and both gave me nothing good. Most places ask for minimum of 2 nights and others have no single room.

Anyone any idea what I can do here?

please help me out thanks.

Try Hostelworld.com (take $2 fee) or Hostelbookers.com (doesnt take fee). There you can book for one night only. I know a hotel which is really cheap but area is bit dodgy, 2000yen per night. Called Raizan South. You can find them via above sites or direct at: http://www.raizan.com/raizan-english/main.html

Good Luck!

I have stayed here often:

Great location. Comfortable. Clean. Not as cheap as a hostel, but not expensive for a business hotel.

Travel Tips for Osaka

Sunday at the park

by elPierro

Spending the sunday in the park will give you an insight in many local Japanese customs and habits.

Head for Osaka-Ji Koen on sunday for a bit Osaka culture. This is the place where the youth gathers. Harajuku girls dressed in strange clothing, rock-bands, shows with little monkeys and the odd-looking Japanese performers are all present.

Special for Osaka is this dog in a red ferrari. The owner has the remote control and drives him around in the park getting a lot of attention.

Teen Hangout

by nexusangel about Shinsaibashi

Plenty of girly shops here, like fashion.
And there's a Loft and Daimaru as well!
The shop Afternoon Tea should not be missed... plus you can have tea and scones there too!

Spanning from about Honmachi subway stn to Dotonbori Street.

Vending machines - they rock! ...

by Phiil

Vending machines - they rock! ESPECIALLY in Japan! I mean, they sold everything! The best find (for me at least) was canned hot coffee, with milk and just the perfect amount of sugar. It seems Japan's national average taste for coffee is exactly my own, result being that when I go to Japan it appears as if their coffee industry is solely geared to my pleasure.... Better than the coffee I'm used to by a factor of 10 at least.
It was a vending machine! Nuff said?

worth a visit aquarium

by hebaemam

its very nice aquarium, most unique there is the shark whale which is amazingly big you can see in the picture. and the eating show is also very nice.
other sharks and strange fish are all present in a very bigggg cylinder which is 5 floors tall and you keep going down and down watching all the fish in the tank.
others like dolphing, penquins, seals, crabs, gellyfish...etc usual stafff
there is an area for kids to touch the fish in a very shallow pool,, very nice experience for adults and kids.
it costs around 2000 en or 22 dollars...

OSAKA AQUARIUM aka KAIYUKAN

by heywinks

This is an excellent aquarium famous for its whale shark. There`s lots to see & you`ll be amazed by the exhibits! Penguins, sea otters, jelly fish, giant spider crab, sardines, anchovies, sea turtles, a sloth, toucan, salamanders, octopus, lobsters, etc. Each exhibit area corresponds with an area on the earth: The Pacific Ocean, Ecuador Rain Forest, Cook Strait, Japan Deeps, Monterey Bay, Tasman Sea, Great Barrier Reef, among others.
It`s costly to come here (adults over 16 yrs old: 2000yen) but I think it`s worth it. Great for adults as well as kids. There`s alot to see & the aquarium is large & clean & modern. You won`t feel cheated for your money.
This aquarium is also wheelchair accessable.
