Beautiful Art at Umeda Skybuilding Ground Floor
Hi I will be visiting Osaka for a business trip so only my evenings are available to sight see Osaka. Any good suggestions where I can Osaka night life (not clubbing type as I still have to meet business associates in the day)?
I suggest you go to Doutonburi and Nanba. Lots of shops and a variety of restaurants. You can get off at Namba subway station. Found a guide book with transportation info and you can find your way.
Some places are targeted to tourist though so watch out.

This is one of the wooden statues found on either side of the main entrance into Shiittenoji Temple. These statues are at the entrances to all temples in Japan. They are guards placed to ward away evil spirits. Pilgrims will often place a pair of straw sandles on the gates for good luck on their travels.
This underground street holds the Atrium Space into which the sunlight shines through the ceiling to the floor of the street. People can enjoy playing music by touching the big relief of a musical instrument. The shopping street features the European style. This shopping zone is conveniently located with easy access to the terminal of JR, Hankyu Railway, Hanshin Railway and Subway.
Zuboraya is a chain of restaurants located throughout Osaka. The main branch is on Dotombori Arcade and is easily recognisable. Colourful window displays of sashimi and sushi makes your choice a mind boggling experience. This place is famous for its fugu sashimi. Fugu sashimi: puffer fish sashimi is one of the delicacies which you must try. The slices of raw puffer fish are sliced very thin and is best taken with cold sake.
Himeji Castle was very nice and I'm glad we didn't miss it. On our last day we bought the JR Subway all day pass for 2,000 yen. We boarded the JR sub at Kyoto. Took 30 minutes to get to Osaka. From Osaka, it took another 1 hour to get to Himeji. A 15 minute walk from the station took us to the Castle Entrance. Entrance fee was 600 Yen.
Very steep steps inside. Lot's of history displayed inside and great view from the top.
The Silver Ball outside OCAT (Osaka City Air Terminal - where the buses leave from the city to Kansai Airport) is where, in the evenings the more energetic young people of Osaka come to practice their dance steps. It's not unusual to see helmet wearing boys spinning around, just on their heads. Whilst very quiet in the winter, this place is packed in the warmer months. A great place to drop on the floor with a beer and watch the show.
