Directions from Kansai Aiport to Shinsaibashi Shopping Area

by wlagno

Can anyone give me directions from Hotel Nikko Kansai Airport to Shinsaibashi Shopping Area? How long will the ride take? Thanks!!!

Hi

I have been to Osaka many times, and always found the transport there pretty confusing (don't want to put you off!) - do you speak Japanese at all?

The train station is in Kansai, but all the signs are in kanji so you may need to ask for help. The journey from the airport can take 40 minutes by train.

Good luck!

I dont agree with above. I find the transport system very easy. At Kansai Int get one of the JR express or rapid trains. They take about 40-50 minutes.

Or take the rapid express on the Nankai line. It take about 30minutes and is cheaper. Taking that one you get off at Shin-Imamiya (it's the station before end station which is NAmba) and from there it is about 10 minute walk to Shinsaibashi area. Rather quick and easy! :)

Good Luck

Travel Tips for Osaka

This is not a cultural tip,...

by rmiya84778

This is not a cultural tip, just a reminder to all
passengers and first time visitors to Kansai/Osaka area. When departing Kansai Airport, after you get your boarding pass, you must purchase PSFC-Passenger Service Facilities Charge and present at the customs inspection
area. This is a ticket you get from vending machine and is a must have before boarding.
I was told first time I visited by my friends in Osaka that is an airport tax. Most countries have this.
This is not mentioned in travel books?
UPDATE-2002. When you get your plane ticket at Airline using,(check-in) they now sell you the PSC ticket. No need to buy from vending machine anymore.
Same price.

Reggae Bar in America Mura

by mikegr about Blow

Bar Blow is my favourite bar in the Namba area. Its a fairly small place with a relaxed atmosphere which so far seems to be undiscovered by tourists and foreign people working in Osaka.

The lighting is subdued, reggae music plays along with the sounds of waves breaking on the beach, the bar has a straw canopy and there are huge vases of roses on all the tables. This place has atmosphere!

There is no English menu but the guys behind the bar speak a bit of english, so getting the right drink shouldnt be a problem - incidentally they come and take your order from the table. From what I can gather, all drinks are 500 yen regardless of whether you ask for a beer or a short drink (black russians are particularly good here!) No dress code

Shinsaibashi - Curry House CoCo Ichibanya

by vincentf about Dotonbori Street

A franchised Japanese-style curry house found all over Japan. This particular shop is located along the busy street in Dotombori. Try any of the fried pork cutlet with curry dishes. All for under 1,000 yen.

Chrysanthemums on show at the castle

by K1W1

Chrysanthemums were the added attraction at the castle last week. As if the autumn colours from the surrounding park lands weren't enough, we were treated to some great displays in front of the castle as well. The Japanese take great pride in their gardens and the care and attention is very evident for all to see and appreciate.

Nara=Park and temple

by kid-keith

Nara is the enriched with Japanese Sprit and has a massive Buddhist temple here one of the biggest in Japan i think and surrounded by a lovely park with Deer running around and attacking me (ha ha ha) these little buggars got hold of everything including nearly ripping my new t-shirt, a great experience all in all
