Matsue is a beautiful city and former castle town. Matsue Castle is an original castle, overlooking Lake Shinji. Around the castle are historic buildings, adding to the castle town feel.
Near the station, it's a modern city, like any other, but outside of the city center there are a variety of other unique sites, such as the Yuushien English Garden and Vogel Park, one of the world's largest aviaries.
