SNOWY MOUNTAINS
by Adeline_Foo
This is the first view we saw immediately when we stepped out of Nikko Station. Amazing isn't it ... It was breathtaking ... It is freezing cold in Nikko in Spring. The winter season is just over and the roads & pavements were still covered in some snows.
Mt Nantai
by keeweechic
Mt Nantai which is now dormant is home to the city of Nikko. The present geography was created when ancient lava flows dammed up Lake Chuzenji and created the multitude of waterfalls and natural beauty. Saint Shodo was the first person to climb Mt. Nantai in 782. In 784, he founded Chuzhen Temple. He also built Shihonryuji Temple and Honku Shrine in the city of Nikko. Once you get to the top, there is a wonderful sight of Lake Chuzenji.
