Transportation

Is there any bus that runs between Kyoto and Tokushima? How much does it cost? Any suggestion on a cheap place to stay(I don't mind a rat hole)?

Thanks.

Hello.
It seems that bus serveice is available between Kyoto and Tokushima.
Here is website.

http://www.doconavi.com/cgi-bin/bus.cgi/bus/time?id=26361001&updown=

Unfortunatelly English information is not available.
I think you will be able to read information if you install japanese character into your PC.
I just copy time tabale down here in case you can not read japanese character.
I think transportation between these area by bus may be smart choice.

The Little Voice:

If you like going to places tourists (expecially on those escorted tours)are not as likely to go --- try jigokudani monkey park during the winter --- great to have those monkeys scampering about you and bathing in the pools.

Re: Transportation

I finally made the trip to Tokushima --- using information from this website and writing to TOPIA in Tokushima for the best time for the whirlpool, we made it there with no problems. We also visited other places -- especially enjoying Kazurabashi vine bridge, the loads of pilgrims in their white kimonos(?) eating the huge specialty noodles, etc. Who said there was not much to do on Shikoku??? We enjoyed it with beautiful weather, the special Cherry Blossom Festival at night in Ritsurin Park, the great views from Yashima, falling snow as we descended from Iya Valley, Kochi with its statues of historical heroes Kazutoyo and Chiyo, Matsuyama Castle.

Thank you for the info which made this enjoyable trip possible.

Congratulations, Butt8.
Shikoku is still one of my dreaming-to-go destinations.
Share us your descriptions here so that I can learn well before I visit there.

Travel Tips for Tokushima

Tokushima Castle Gates

by dlandt

Along with most of the rest of Tokushima, the castle was reduced to matchsticks and gravel during the war, but unlike the city, has not been rebuilt. They have, however, restored the gates. The gates are the focal point for a civic park of modest size, and the gates are of some interest. I really think the best memory I have of Tokushima is just the sense of being such a conspicuous foreigner. Unlike Europe and even Latin America, there is no way I "could" be from Japan. I wanted to go somewhere very very different, and Tokushima really fit that bill!
