Great location
I make my visits to coincide with any cultural events or festivals. I've stayed here right after golden week. Roughly after the first week of May. That is when there are several major festivals in mid may in Tokyo. Finding a place can be difficult. But, I've never had a problem.
It's location near the Tokyo (main train) station, Budokan, and emperor's palace is convenient. I use a hotel room as a base to explore the city, not as a living room.
The staff is helpful and polite. There are a few restaurants in the hotel. There are other small restaurants and stores nearby.
I left some of my luggage in the checkroom while I made side trips to other cities. There was no charge.
Unique Quality: The room I had on both visits faced east and I was on an upper floor. The view of the sunrise was great and the view at night was just as spectacular. There is a yukata in the closet, a phone in the bathroom, if you leave everything home the amenities in the bathroom cover everything. Comb, brush, toothbrush and paste, razor, shampoo, you name it and it's in there.
The room has a flashlight by the bed. Although, I carry one where ever I go.

Nothing grand about it
The hotel's a bit old, evident in the room and bathroom. The room was big enough for the 3 of us but that meant one had to sleep on a sofa bed. Buffet breakfast is OK, staff is very helpful especially when processing the delivery of your luggage to your next destination by takkyubin.
Unique Quality: The hotel is among the pick-up/drop-off points serviced by the Airport Limousine buses between the hotel and Narita airport.

tokyo's 4 star hotel
Unique Quality: Last renovated in 1998, the Hotel Grand Palace offers moderately priced, contemporary accommodations near many businesses and forms of public transportation. The shopping arcade offers a variety shop, flower shop, barber, salon, and more. This high-rise hotel houses a wedding chapel and offers wedding support services. For a charge, guests can arrange massage appointments during their stay.
With six restaurants onsite, guests won't want for dining options. The Crown Restaurant and Lounge, located on the 23rd floor, offers seafood, grilled fare, and spectacular views. Other restaurants include Chidori (Teppanyaki cuisine), Chiyoda (Japanese cuisine), Manjuen (Chinese cuisine), and Cattleya Cafe. There are also two bars on the premises. Room service is available from 7am-12am each day.
To suit guests' needs, this hotel offers two floors of underground parking, 19 meeting rooms, and business services. Guests can reach Tokyo airports via either Iidabashi Station or Kudanshita Station. Both stations are a short walk from the hotel. The quickest route to Haneda airport will take approximately 45 minutes using public transportation. The fastest route to Narita airport will take approximately 90 minutes using public transportation.
There are 464 rooms on 23 floors. Standard amenities include dataport telephone and television.

Wonderful Place!
Our stay was perfect. We stayed there for 4 nights (we left for one night in the middle and they held our luggage without a problem). The service was fantastic, the rooms were great and the location was really central to everything. Its right near Tokyo Station which is convenient for everything and there are other subway lines as well. Its a stones throw from the Palace as well!
The staff is really friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were clean and beautiful. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
We booked last minute so it cost $250/night but that was an upgraded room. I think you can get it much cheaper if you arent going Christmas week and last minute.
