We stayed here in Ikebukuro last week. http://www.duplexcs.jp/english/ikebukuro/index.html

I know its not Shinjuku but it's only a few stops away.

Very conveniently located for the metro and airport limousine. (Stops across the road at the Metropolitan Hotel)

We stayed in a 1 bed unit but I think they have bigger. Was very comfortable and cost us 6000 Yen for the week.

Travel Tips for Tokyo

Lockers for your bags.

by A2002

There are lockers of various sizes for your luggages or shopping in most train stations. We had problem finding a locker available on a Sunday afternoon in Tokyo Station. There are lotsa lockers, but are all occupied. The bigger the locker, the more expensive it is. You pay for 24hrs. Cheapest is JPY300 for the smallest locker suitable for a daypack. Busy, fast paced, lotsa people.

The rush

by salisbury3933

Rush time can be notoriously crowded, but much more so in the morning.

What you'll find is that the commute home tends to be a lot more spaced out, in fact the last train home at night is often quite full.

It may be best to avoid the morning rush, if you don't like such things, but the evening rush is much more manageable.

AKIHABARA
If you came to Tokyo...

by SirRichard

AKIHABARA
If you came to Tokyo to buy electronics, here you can find all kinds of stuff, generally at discount prices. To get there either take the Chuo sobu local, Yamanote or Hibiya lines. Follow the signs for Electric town (and the crowds...).
It's not advisable to buy english software here, as it uses to be much expensive than at home. The cheap software is in japanese, but if you know the language, go a head!

Public restrooms

by risingmorningstar

Don't expect to find paper towels in the public restrooms in Tokyo. There may be hot air hand dryers available, but even in some very nice restaurants you may be expected to provide your own hand towel. Most people carry a washcloth size towel in their pocket or purse for just such needs. While traditional Japanese style toilets are found in most every restroom that provides service for more than one person at a time, thankfully they usually have at least one western style toilet. For those of us who are rather old and decrepit and can hardly sit down safely, much less squat over an open vessel, this is wonderful.

Astroboy? Didn't Know He Was Still Popular?!

by Breen

Around the city you will still find many refrences to Astroboy, even Tokyo now being advertised for vacations with him now!

You can also find him in Yokohama at the aquarium, at least when I was there last year their was a group singing the theme song and selling shirts and other things, never got that close to see what it really was all about.

Also Harajuku had the jingle, loved to hear that everytime. ;)
