Small rooms (normal for Tokyo) but very cool

I stayed almost a week at Mitsui Garden Hotel Ginza for business.
The entrance hall at 16th floor has really spectacular view over the surrounding part of the city and my single room was small, but well organized and on the 23rd floor, with great views as well. The only detail missing were some shelves for the clothes.

Soft drinks, beer, juices, ice and pay tv machines in a room same floor on the way to the lift.

Breakfast nice an generous at 20 Euro, but I prefered to get a coffee a croissant down in the street as I can't eat much more in the Morning.

Staff very helpful and gentle.

Unique Quality: Particularly interesting the view from inside the bathroom, through the crystal door of the shower and through the window inside the shower (on the wall separating the bathroom and the bedroom) looking into the bedroom and out over Tokyo through the bedroom window.

A switch in the bathromm with written "click here and enjoy the view" was switching the shower window from matt to transparent.

The restaurant beside the lobby had really great food (but I hate there only the first night) at proportioned prices.

Comfy and enjoyable. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we were really disappointed that we had to leave to visit Kyoto. Great location also. Just 2 minutes walk to Ginza's dazzling center. Great breakfast. You can find anything you could think of in this hotel's big bouffet. You can also meal with an interesting choice of preset courses in nice prices.
All rooms have complimentary internet connection. The size of the rooms are adequate and the bathroom very convenient, equipped and clean.
I will definitely stay here the next time i am visiting Tokyo.

Mitsui Garden Hotel, Kyoto

by Fiona_M

Has anyone stayed here before or does anyone know the area? The address is 707-1 Myodenji-cho, Shijo-sagaru, Nishinotoin St, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto, 600-8472 and it looks to be around 10 min walk from Kyoto station.

Found a great deal for staying from 6-10th Jan 09 and just want to check that the area is safe, how far from amenities etc.

Many thanks

Fiona

Sure, that's a decent location. It's near a subway station, which will be convenient. I couldn't find the exact location on google maps, though.
