In the Akasaka district, convenient to everything, the Hotel New Otani was pure luxury. The room I had was about $300 a night which would certainly be out of my range on my own. The gardens are absolutely gorgeous!

This hotel is excellent for everyone. The staff are very friendly, speak english and try their utmost best to fulfil your requests. I stayed there on my own in Feb 2007. There is an airport limo bus counter right at the hotel lobby and priority is given to hotel guests. The best part about this hotel is that it is a 5 min walk to 2 subway stations: Nagatacho and Akasaka-Mitsuke, which connects through the Yurakucho, Ginza, Hanzomon, Marunouchi and Namboku lines. If you need to attend church service on Sunday, they even have a small chapel right in the hotel. Hotel amenities have been carefully planned for and are made by kanebo. Complimentary newspapers and quality coffee provided also makes a perfect stay. asiarooms.com and zuji have good deals with this hotel. Try to request for the last room in the Tower Building on the floor facing the New Otani garden, with the view of Shinjuku! It is amazingly beautiful especially at night. You are paying alittle bit more, but you can be sure this hotel has guaranteed comfort, convenience and security. Best of all, nearby are many great restaurants, eating houses, pharmacies and belle-vie, a small departmental store. Be sure to avoid the lunch crowd from 12-1pm as the area is near embassies and large establishments. Try the tempura stall near the Akasaka-Mitsuke station along the row of shops, it is really yummy for a low price.
