Not only skyscrapers
by tompt
Tokyo is not only the high skyscrapers of Shinjuku. It is a picture you often see when it is about Tokyo, high skyscrapers. But even though the ones in Shinjuku are impressive, we preferred the areas where the buildings are a little lower. The small and winding streets with the colorfull lights, or the hidden temples.
Tokyo Tip

There are numerous small delights to be noticed in Japan, from the point of view of a London boy. The plant pots and flower baskets outside tiny homes in urban Tokyo...The many city workers (e.g. building site security, cleaners in shopping malls) who sport immaculate uniforms and seemingly hold some pride in what they do, the lack of litter and graffiti. These all, in a way, reflect one stereotype...the clean, safe, well-ordered Tokyo. This is certainly what I noticed when comparing with my own hometown. However, there was another abiding memory I brought back to Old Blighty with me; the fun-loving, happy young people I spent some time with. I honestly belive that the people I met had a capacity for fun that could rival the Thais! OK, it generally took some alcohol involvement before the shyness dissipated, but in a way that echos how us Brits can often be.

Nihonbashi
by vigi
It worth a lunch time visit to Nihonbashi, to experience business centers that drive Japan's economy. See the difference of Japanese working crowd before they "transform" to a party animal after work.
Actually, I was looking for the famous Rainbow Bridge, wrongly alight in this Nihonbashi Station, worth a visit though. In Japanese, Nihon = Japan; Bashi = Bridge

There is a vast array of fashion expressions in Tokyo. They are even classified to the districts. Harajuku is where you will find adventurous fashions. In the shiodome area you will find business fashion and in the shibuya area you will find trendy fashions!
I loved the shopping and came back home with some great outfits where in Tokyo i would blend into the crowd however in Perth i stand out from the crowd, a shame!
