    It's heavenly after Taito Ryokan

    by

After 1 night, we could not stand the noisiness of Taito Ryokan and we were all sleep-depraved. This is no way to experience a holiday!

Out came our Lonely Planet guide book and armed with coins, we headed for the nearest public phone. Went through the list and found availability at Sakura Hotel. Didn't want to make the same mistake again, we decided to check out the hotel in person before booking!

My, this seems like heaven after Taito Ryokan. For Yen 3780 per person per night is a quad sharing room, we got
    - comfy Western bed (dormi style as there were 4 of us and we wanted to stay together)
    - heater and air conditioning which we can control in our room
    - modern common toilets and bathrooms (there are 4 of each on every floor)
    - a TV
    - super clean and well kept
    - towels and linens are provided together with yukata (robe)
    - rooms are cleaned everyday

As you can see, we were very pleased with this choice. It's still affordable and it's location is not too far off (close to Imperial Palace)

Unique Quality: If only we knew about this place, we would not have considered Taito Ryokan at all. What we liked most of this place is that it's very clean and the common toilet/bathroom is one of the better ones.

Location and Jimbocho station provides close access to Shinjuku, Shibuya and Tokyo Station (to airport).

Directions: Located at Jimbocho Station (Shinjuku line). Take Exit A6, turn right and go straight until you see Koban (police box). Turn right before koban and you'll see hotel on the right

Friendly and well priced hotel, tiny and basic rooms but very clean and comfortable. Small bar/cafe with cheap and tasty food downstairs. Helpful, multilingual staff too. Only able to stay one night as we were leaving Tokyo next day. Fully booked when we returned later, so advance reservations a good idea?

Directions: Nearest station - Jimbocho Few minutes walk away - then can't miss hotel -it's very pink! like the cherry blossom it's named after!

Nice place , clean, very nice people ,english speaking . They will let u know where the cheap eats are, places of interest and the best way of getting there. Fairly easy to get to the hotel by subway from the airport. Rooms are very clean and cozy. Have internet for a small charge. A coffee shop downstairs, coffee is expensive all over Japan. Free breakfast. Bar open 24 hrs. The Kimono's on the bed where a nice touch.

Ham Fighters

by bonio

Baseball is one of the most popular spectator sports in Japan. The Tokyo dome, home to two of the city's major teams, was just a short walk from the Sakura Hotel. It seemed a good opportunity to see my first baseball game, we had just arrived in Tokyo though and no sleep for around thirty hours so maybe we did not really appreciate the experience. We watched the Nippon Ham Fighters play Blue Wave from Kobe? the crown was quite small but we were told that Yomiuri Giants who also play home games in the Dome are far mor popular. Never mind an entertaining evening and a 4-2 win for the Ham Fighters.

Hi
I didn’t stay the hotel, but I think it is an economic and convenience hotel as long as I have looked its web-site.

Yes, we stayed there early last week

Very small but we found the location convenient and very cheap

Ikebukuro is a nice area to stay as there are lots of nice eateries place to go
Just found out that there is also a 24 hrs Korean BBQ along one of the main street.

There is this other Sakura Hotel in Hatagaya which I would like to try next time. It seems Hatagaya (2 metro station after Shinjuku0 is a residential area and from the map there are lots of food places to visit (I am a food person0

Sakura Hotel - hatagaya per night Y9,000 including light breakfast !!
