ogigahama youth hostel: lovely small japanese style house :))
i loved this place although not in shirahama: its three train stations before in kii-tanabe. we got a very roomy private tatami room with two cosy futons nicely made up for us :)) i have stayed in a real ryokan where the room has been half the size and five times more expensive! this place has great quality at great price :)) i don`t know how many private rooms they have, and you can get one in peak seasons and weekends only if you are lucky, or have reserved alot in advance.
Unique Quality: very cosy futons and lovely huge pink towels...only one negative point though, the airconditioner in the room costed 100yen an hour, and in august you would die sleeping without it ;)) so make sure you have enough coins forthe night!!!
