Most of my friends live in Sakata which is only about 40 mins from my house by car. But since I don't have a car, it takes me about 1.5 hours. I have to take a bus out of my village and into Tsurouka eki then JR train to Sakata. This isn't a problem if you have the bus timetable and can read a bit of Kanji and speak a little japanese. Also near Yunohama beach where we all seem to end up when the weather is nice. Stll haven't figured out if Yunohama is closer to Tsuroka or Sakata but there it is...
