It's a typical Youth hostel - a bit rundown but clean. Amenities as usual. There seems to be not much choice in Hagi. The only good point about this Hostel is the bicycle rental - 100 Yen per hour and 500 Yen per day. The manager is quite friendly. However, 3990 Yen without breakfast (he also ignored my Internation Youth hostel member card!) is unacceptable - even for a Japanese hostel. Get out at Tamae, walk straight ahead and follow the road over the bridge. Then walk ahead for ten minutes to the first traffic light - there it's on the left.

The place is a really nice, Japanese style hotel. There are no beds, just futons that the hotel staff lay out for you at night. the view overlooking the sea is amazing and of course the onsen is great. The meals that come with the room(dinner on arrival day and breakfast the next morning) are very good. The dinner was Japanese style, lots of little courses that was quite filling and with breakfast you had your choice of Japanese style(complete with natto) or western style, all available in buffet.
The view of the sea is great(if you get a room on the other side of the hotel you can see the mountains) and because it is an onsen the bathing facilities are also great, however the staff doesn't speak English. It is the only large building in the area, you can't miss it.Website: www.tanakahotelg.co.jp
