I had a very nice stay at the Regent. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The hotel had a nice lounge where musicians would play Jazz, a great restaurant for breakfast and a good workout facility. The rooms were very clean and spacious with highspeed internet access.
Great views of the Tian Shan mountain range from rooms. A Casino and travel agency.
When the Turkish investors discover again Kazakhstan they decide to invest on Tourism and Accomodation thats why almost all new hotels with higher standarts are build by Turkish investors in Almaty .Ankara hotel or nowadays Regent Almaty is one of this hotels .I use to stay in this hotel in my last visits to the city
The Regent Ankara Hotel is the most luxurious hotel in Kazakhstan. It is a nice place to stay if you don't want to have to put up with the crap that is all too common in post-Soviet accomodations - rude/slow staff, credit card machines that never work, terrible food, dirty rooms, etc.. You can escape all of this at the Ankara - for a price.
There is very little "unique" about this hotel, save the casino on the bottom floor. It gets pretty sleazy at night, so I would reccomend steering clear.
