Souksomphone Guesthouse: Not much choice
Well it appears that I'm the first to write a travel tip for Attapu, that kinda tells you something. This isn't a tourist destination, but that makes it more interesting right.
Our guesthouse (I think there are only two in town) had it's share of spider webs and spiders, dirty sheets and a toilet that wouldn't flush or refill so we had to do this manually as demonstrated in the picture. The water is cold, etc. But it did the job. We were also awoken by some drunk people who were passed out and their TV was blaring.
But anyhow the people there were nice and it is what you should expect when you are in this area. It costs us about $6.50 for the night ($1.50 of that was to get the air conditioning) so not too hard on the old pocketbook.
Unique Quality: Very local and not what I'm used to (something different).

Souksomphone Guest House: Only Place in Town
Well it is a different place to stay. I will say that the rooms were gross. There were spiders and such everywhere. The beds just look gross. I would suggest if you plan on staying in a place like this for a week or so, oyu would benefit by cleaning up a little: wiping things down, killing spiders etc. There is no hot water, and our rooms toilet didn't flush, we had to do it manually, and fill it up with the bum sprayer. There was a drunk next to us and he passed out with his door open and the tv blarring. It was none the less an experience.
