Warm Reception

I fell in love with Luang Prabang while staying here. The facilities are just what the doctor ordered and best of all, no annoying TV! Rooms are extremely spacious and all touches are locally inspired and sustainable. The owners are Australian which means facilities will be kept up to date and workers are treated fairly.

Upon arrival, you are welcomed with a delicious papaya, banana, strawberry smoothie or beverage of choice. Breakfast is served complementary with fresh fruits and baguettes, a French import.

Unique Quality: The hotel is in a quiet part of town though a bit far away from the center. What one sees as a drawback, another sees as a welcome! Luang Prabang itself is a small town but can get quite busy during tourist season. You'll want to stay away from the noisy streets especially at night and early morning. The hotel is also close to famed Wat Xieng Thong, the largest of the many temples in this area.

More about Lotus Villa Laos

Overpriced

by TripAdvisor Member threeweeds

Beautiful building with wooden finishes and very comfortable beds. The owner and especially the staff were amazing- always helpful and went out of their way to make you comfortable.

My only gripe is the place was way too overpriced for what it was. For a $65USD room I ended up paying around $75USD as I had to pay with the local currency and this hotel's exchange rate was higher than normal.

Even for the $65USD I was surprised that there was no mini fridge or tv in the room which is standard for that price range. TV is not too much of a worry but a fridge for cold drinks would have been nice.

Checked out to stay at Apsara for the same price.

Good little villa and fantastic staff but way too overpriced for what you get.

Great Stay, great staff

by TripAdvisor Member azieloo

Stayed at the terrific Lotus Villa a few weeks back. Andrew and his staff are really amazing and gracious enough to help me with some travel snafus - they went out of there way to ensure I was well looked after.

The guest house is quite lovely and it is obvious that Andrew takes great pride in his workmanship-this new guest house was designed in the "old" tradition and lovingly built.

I highly recommend this as a place to stay- the staff cannot do enough to ensure your stay in Luang Prabang is a happy one.

A Wonderful New Guesthouse

by TripAdvisor Member preteentraveler

This is a wonderful new guesthouse in a very good location in Luang Prabang, Laos. It has a friendly Australian owner and spacious and clean rooms. My parents, my brother, and I had 2 adjoining rooms. It also has a courtyard (which I don’t think many other guesthouses in all of Luang Prabang have), which has lots of green foliage and tables where you eat breakfast, that adds greatly to the atmosphere. This guesthouse is located in what I think is the best neighborhood in all of Luang Prabang, on the most atmospheric street a block away from the river and a few doors down from two Wats including the main Wat. Also, the monks walk by the front door every morning at around 6 o’clock so that you can watch the alms from right outside the Lotus Villa or, if you are in the row of rooms that face the street, from your own balcony. The only bad thing that there is to say about the Lotus Villa is that it doesn’t have a full restaurant (it only serves you breakfast which is included in the room and the most delicious fruit shakes) but that’s fine because there are plenty of good restaurants nearby. There is also wifi Internet throughout the guesthouse and computers in the lobby. The staff were very helpful in getting various tuk-tuks for us and even a minibus to a nearby waterfall. We VERY, VERY highly recommend the Lotus Villa!!!!

Recommend Lotus Villa

by TripAdvisor Member Zagora

I have spent two nights at Lotus Villa. It is a lovely place:
the national style of the brand new building with wooden
balcony, shutters and furniture; the comfortable superclean rooms,
decorated in Lao style; the beautiful tropical garden with
wooden tables and chairs, on which a very tasty and abundant
breakfast has been served; the very polite and helpful staff;
the good location close to the most important wats and right on the
path of the morning Buddhist alm giving - all these helped to
make my trip to Luang Prabang truly unforgettable!
Highly recommended!

At home at Lotus Villa

by TripAdvisor Member ChangNoi1

My wife and me did stay for 2 night at this 6 months young nice hotel. We did like to stay in the old area and the hotel has a nice small garden. The rooms are very nice, but price-wise they should offer a bit more for in-room service and breakfast.

No TV or fridge in the room, but a open shower (very romantic) and free WIfi and free use of computers in the lobby. And very helpful staff.

For us a place to return, and hopefully they improved a bit by that time.

Lotus Villa an Oasis

by TripAdvisor Member ABandCs

My family and I just returned home after a week in Luang Prabang at the Lotus Villa. The Lotus is in a great location in the UNESCO center of town, walking distance to all the shopping and retaurants. We had adjoining rooms which were perfect for the family and the courtyard was a safe place for the kids to explore away from traffic. The owners are fantastic, they obviously love the country and are doing a lot to help the local community. They were always willing to stop and chat and give out information and seem incredibly dedicated to the quality of service we felt spoiled to receive. Some reviews have mentioned that Lotus Villa is a higher price than other guesthouses, and it is, but it is worth it!

A Hidden Gem...

by TripAdvisor Member hanisze

We were at the Lotus Villa for 1 night in June 2008 and wished we had time to stay longer. We stayed at one of the bigger rooms on the first floor of the Hotel (Lotus) and were very satisfied with what was being offered to us.

Our room was comfortably large and the staffs spoke good English and were very helpful in getting us settled down.

We had a balcony in our room facing the inner courtyard of the Hotel where breakfast was served and it was so relaxing to just sit out at the balcony after a long day walking in town. Everything was built using wooden material, just as we like it.

The Hotel is also very centrally located and we walked around town to cover most of the interesting sights, and the very famous Wat Xiang Thong is only down the road from the Hotel.

In the morning, we woke up at about 6 am and went down to sit by the roadside of the Hotel to observe the alm-giving to the monks.

There are so many motels, guesthouses and hotels in Luang Prabang that one can be spoilt for choices but Lotus Villa is one of the newer ones and we find it very well maintained compared to the others around town. It is also located on a very quiet part of town, and hence, it is an ideal place for one to just relax and wind down.

The internet is also free for all to use at the reception area and they have 2 computers available for their guests.

The breakfast provided at the wonderful courtyard was good and we got to choose from an adequately varied ala carte menu.

The only thing we feel the hotel could improve on is to provide some toiletries for the guests in the bathroom. Other than that, we have no other complaints and will definitely be staying here again should we have the chance to come back for another visit.

Lovely Lotus Villa

by TripAdvisor Member Wattamillsy

The Lotus Villa appears old but has recently been built and it is a comfortable and pleasant place to stay, with a relaxing garden courtyard in the middle of the two buildings. I recommend to avoid road noise, stay in the rear block of the two. The owners are Australian and the hotel is very well run. It is along the 'monk route'. Reasonably priced too.

Subtle elegance with warm and genuine staff

by TripAdvisor Member escapefromhanoi

I extended my stay from 3 nights to 5 because the room was so beautiful and the staff very warm. Stayed in the corner Frangiapani room (which has more windows than the rooms in the middle). The room is smartly designed, with great attention to detail without being overwhelming or pretentious. Loved the pull out drawers under the bed, the step shower, and the absence of TVs, minibars, or other hotel trappings. Andrew, Tik, Sanny and all the rest of the staff were delightful and made me feel very welcome. Highly recommended.
