Just stayed three nights here. Took over 30 minutes to get a room with a king bed (requested on the reservation) after going to the 8th and then the 9th floor to find twin-bedded rooms, and finally getting the correct room on the 7th floor.

The pool is covered, and therefore freezing, even though the weather was hot: 35C.

The breakfast buffet is very limited and the cooks cannot fry eggs without breaking the yolks. Omelette's were basically scrambled eggs with fillings. Many of the hot item trays were empty at 8:00 am, like no bacon, ham, etc. and replenishment isn't a priority.

The last straw was reserving the 6pm free shuttle to the "Fountain", with a return pick-up at 9:15pm. The pick-up did not materialize, and we waited 30 minutes while a nearby restaurant found the Don Chan number and called them for us. We later discovered that our driver had been called for an airport pick-up, and did not mention to anyone that he was stranding a couple in town!

There were a number of other issues - like calling room service for ice cubes, and answering the door twenty minutes later to find a waiter with an ice-cream sundae!

I met the Executive Assistant Manager, and was given two cups of coffee as compensation.

This was Fawlty Towers Vientiane-style.

By the way, Vientiane itself is charming and has some great restaurants!
