Khamkhoune Hotel

We stayed here only one night because we had too many mosquitos in room, thousands of them. Simple screen would save costumer from that hassle and people would sleep well. The facade and interior of the hotel looks cute in Lao style - wooden floor, ornamented walls and rooms are quite spacious and bright (those with windows) but somewhat overpriced. Is it only the famous name that keep the price high for that kind of quality:
a room without window and many mosquitos was 800 THB without breakfast. You could hear any noise from the corridor or neighboor - late in the night. The other room where my parents and uncle and aunt stayed was large one and better quality with window: but view towards the main road is not really considered a good view. That one was 1000 THB and they had mosquitos in room, breakfast excluded. You can get better rooms for that price in Vientiane.
Staff was/looked a bit tired.
There's a restaurant by the reception hall but we saw only a few guests dining - it was very quiet all the time. We had some beers, and my family had a breakfast which looked very typical European one with (too) little stuff.

Alltogether they have 21 rooms with AC, hot shower and cable tv.

Unique Quality: There are some qualities, indeed: nice furnished rooms, wooden stairs and Lao decoration and facade. But for all that you don't need to pay that much. Especially because they don't try enough to save the simple problem with those mosquitos -probably noone had yet told them to put the screens on or at least mosquito nets. You may say to use pesticide or mosquito repellent instead but I don't think that's really the best way to deal with it especially when it can be prevented by mosquito nets.
