San Diago Hotel (Pousada de Sao Tiago)
by sunnywong
Completed in 1629 on the site of an older cannon battery, Barra fort successfully protected the bar at the entrance to the Inner harbor against the Dutch in 1622. After 1622 the fort’s cannons were never needed, until World War 2 when they were sold for rice to feed refugees from Hong Kong and China. Over the years the fort was gradually demolished to make room for roads and by 1976 it was abandoned by the Marine Police. The Macau Government Tourist Office decided to convert the ruins into a Portuguese inn, which today is one of the city’s great attractions. To discover how the architect used the original walls, made the cistern into a fountain, incorporated century-old trees into the design and restored the chapel, visitors are welcome any time at the Pousada de São Tiago.

At first, you should go to Leal Senado, that is the center of macao.
Many shops gather there. You walk street as you watch shops, and go from Leal Senado to Monte Fort.
From Monte Fort you can see the facade of the ruins of St.Paul's church.
In front of this facade there are many antique shops and asian goods shops.
You can try to wear an asian hat.
Cafe Nata serves european coffee.I recomend "cafe au lait".It's very good.In addition to,it serves good sweets and sandwiches.
Especially I want you to eat "egg tart".
Cafe Nata is near "Leal Senado".
You sould go to see "Chapel of St.Francis Xavier" .
I think this church is very Oriental.
In the picture,Mary is like a heavenly maiden that is in the Japanese fairy tale.
You can come here by bus.
And the shop "Lord Stows Bakery" that sells good "egg tart" is near the charch.
I can't forget the taste.
If you would go to "Chapel of St.Francis Xavier" , you should eat "egg tart" at an original shop ,the shop "Lord Stows Bakery" , that is near the charch.
Tart-T-short is sold at the shop.
I can't forget the taste.
"Pousada de Sao Tiago" is very good hotel.
Entrance (1) you might not think a hotel.
Entering the door(2) you might think a cave.
Wall(3,4)water is flowing down a wall.
It's a fantastic hotel.(not cheap,but you would have a good memory.)
It has a good restaurant.

Can anyone recommend a guest house boutique hotel in Macau. We are looking for something central and charming.
Has anyone heard of the Buena Vista?

How about Pousada de Sao Tiago? It is in an old building located near Templo do A-Ma. It is a 5-star hotel.
