Holiday Inn Macau: Must try Spa, Jacuzzi, Food, et al.
We stayed in this hotel for 4days and 3 nights. The hotel overall was great except for the bathroom that needs to be refurbished as some of the tiles under the sink are stained which hurts the 4-star hotel image. Everything else was great though from the restaurant (Frascatti) to my favorite hangout which was the pool/jacuzzi area. The Tea Tree Spa was also worth a try but maybe a little expensive for budget travellers.
The hotel staff is composed of 3/4 Filipinos. That was a relief for people like me who don't know how to speak Chinese. The staff in general are very polite and friendly that they would go out of their way to give food, shopping and transpo tips. Be sure to ask for help.
The view from our room wasn't that attractive though as all there is to see are condo units of Macau residents with rusty window rods and laundy hanged outside on the windows. Some people may think that it's a part of culture immersion which is true but the experience could have been better if the view was nicer. But what can they do?
Room complimentary items: slippers, 2 bottles of water, tea, coffee, laudry bag, sugar and cream (a water boiler for guests who crave for hot drinks)
bathroom complimentary items: shampoo, conditioner, lotion, bath soap, razor, shower cap, toothrush and toothpaste, sanitary bag, cotton and cotton buds (towels are also provided)
The location of the hotel was a little off the main road where the big 5-star hotels are. Be sure to check out nearby hotels for sight seeing especially at night when the place basically dazzles with lights from stores, hotels and casinos.
3 things: 1. The pool and Jacuzzi are great! 2. Loved the huge plasma TV 3. It's in the center of most tourist destinations (A-ma, Fisherman's wharf, Macau Tower and Senado Square)

Pousada de Mong-ha: 3.5 Star for the Price of a 2.5 Star
Quiet, serene surroundings. Hotel has some 30 rooms, so the place is not busy, very relaxed atmosphere. On a hill.
Efficient check-in, check-out (by second year students).
No frills (no swimming pool, business center). Guests can use school gym and library (it is a teaching hotel and is beside the school). Internet wifi access is free.
Stayed at the deluxe room (41 sqm). Nice set up - the bathroom is accessed from the ante room, which adjoins the bedroom through a door. Toilet flush cannot be heard from the bedroom. Desk is in the ante room. Comfortable king size bed.
Breakfast for 2 is included in the room charge. Breakfast charge of MOP 60 for children.
Impressive table setting. The colorful crockery whets your appetite. Unlimited coffee at the coffee machine. A cut above a basic breakfast : sausage, ham, bacon, salad, congee, pastries, bread, pancake, fruits, cereals, oatmeal, yogurt, etc. Be sure to order poached egg/ omelette so the student trainees get to practice their culinary skills.
Free shuttle service every 30 minutes to certain points, including the Ferry Terminal (where you can hop on other free shuttle services to various destinations). We took the hotel shuttle all the way to Coloane.
Bus stop (Forte de Mong-ha) 200 meters away at Avenida do Coronel Mesquita.
Teaching restaurant 100 meters further up the hill - unfortunately did not get to try it. Closes at 10 pm.

Guia Hotel: My Little modern
It was clean, modern and luxurious yet quaint...just like the fact that it's set beside a historic lighthouse around stoney mountains. Pretty relaxing...Not to mention that there's FREE Carlsberg cans (2) everyday! Yey!

Grandview Hotel: Reasonable rates at Taipa
Would definitely recommend this hotel because it is strategically located near the best tourist spots in the Taipa area (within walking distance). Bus stop is also just outside of the hotel. They are also very quick in responding to your emails.
The hotel provides complimentary shuttle bus service for guests arriving at the Macau Ferry Terminal that runs at 30 minutes interval between 08:15 and 23:30.
