This hotel is very well located overlooking the river and was one that I had my eye on when we first arrived in Kapit from Sibu. We got given a large room at the front of the hotel that had 2 front facing windows that looked over the river so you could see all the comings and goings. The room had a double bed, single bed, wardrobe, TV, a/c, mirror and a hot water shower. The room cost RM35 in March 2009. Nice girl at reception as well ;-)
the main attraction of Kapit , Sarawak is this traditional Iban longhouse. one of the few that are still have the original look.
You can get to sibu by airasia (RM300.00 or less [return} - on promo) then take a boat from the ferry terminal to Kapit (RM25.00 1st class one way) and ride a van to get there. U dont need a guide, so dont waste money hiring guide but do call Cikgu (teacher) Jega Keling at HP : 014- 8812906 or 084-796903 to arrange for homestay. It will cost RM50.00 per nite all inclusive.
Not advisable to hire a van as ours cost of van plus a guide for 5 hrs are RM1,250.00. I was given to understand that local van that ferry you will cost less than RM5.00 pp.
The name of the long house is Rumah Jandok. at Sungai Yong, 98000 Kapit Sarawak. do bring with you some books and candies for the children and biscuits for the old folk.
its real and is original.
Hmm for me it is old hotel and quiet...it is really quiet because during my visit there is only myself and two other friends...
