How do I get there from Hong kong?

by auztrav

hey, looking for a cheap trip to Universal and looking for somewhere for two days
What would be the best way to get there with not too much walking?

From Hong Kong, take flight to Kuala Lumpur.

From Kuala Lumpur, take a flight/bus/train to Johor Bahru. Once you reach Johor Bahru, take another bus/taxi to Danga Bay.

From Danga Bay in Johor Bahru Malaysia, there is a daily shuttle shuttle bus to Resort World Sentosa/Universal Studio from Tune Hotel in Danga Bay. It is operated by Odyssey Shuttle Service, and the ticket is for RM25.00. First bus from Danga bay is at 7 in the morning, and the last bus from Resort World Sentosa to Danga Bay is at 10:30 PM.

Taking this shuttle, and sleep in Johor Bahru instead of Singapore is a cheaper option.

How about Bukit Merah Laketown Resort and take their ecopark tour. You will get to see all sort of animals. It is located in Perak, about 3 hours from KL.

Here's the link for it's ecopark site, price, reservation, and etc:

Travel Tips for Johor Bahru

Immigration Card (white Card)

by imstress

All non citizen need to complete the Immigration Card (white Card) when we clear the customs.

The white card may be obtained at the customs counter. Just approach any of the staff at the counter and they will give youu a stack of white cards.

Do check that your white card and passport has been stamped.

If you have problem with filling up the immigration card, just pay the old man for this service.

Immigration and Customs.

by A2002

The immigration and customs at the causeway operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Therefore, not to worry about getting across to JB if it's late at night. During the weekends, it is not surprising that there will be a traffic jam at the causeway even past 12 midnite!
There are lanes for the cars and a small terminal for passengers.
The only problems for passengers is that the public bus service to cross the causeway will end slightly before 12 midnite. Else you will have to walk across the causeway. It would not be easy if you are lugging some luggages.

Orang Asli - Real locals of Malaysia.

by A2002

There are two types of Orang Asli people. One group in the mountain and another group along coast. We call them in Hokkien "sua huan"(mountain) and "hai huan"(sea). The mountain ones will hunt for wild bore, etc and they live in the jungle or forests. There's a group that lived near my small neighbourhood in JB (in the forest nearby) when I was young. I used to see them every early morning with lots of dogs and all with spears, big knifes, etc, and with their hunt for the day. For the sea ones, they live on food from the sea. They hunt in the sea.

The Orang Asli have their own language. They are the minority in Malaysia. The majority of them are less educated but the government are buidling schools to educate their younger generation.

Octville Golf & Country Club

by chiabh

The 18-holes par 72 course plays to 3,218m on each of the nines making it an average course length of 6,306m for the blue tees... The fairway is of cow grass and is of fairly acceptable condition... The most scenic and challenging holes are the two par 3s #7 and #15 which plays to island greens...

The clubhouse is very basic but looks very futuristic and impressive with the golfer's terrace overlooking the finishing hole... The changing room need a renovation though... The buggy rate for non-members is RM66 inclusive of tax... The buggy also need an urgent upgrade...

War Memorial Monument

by asnidd

maybe you has visited Lido Beach.. did anyone mentioned you about this monument? if you don't.. it's okey.. most of the local also did not aware of this monument. This obelisk commemorates martyred servicemen of the First and Second World Wars, and the Emergency (confrontation with Indonesia in 1962).
