It was a great stay although the resort was dated and rooms merely a 3-star rating by today's resort standards, my family and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves because of the quiet, all-to-ourselves facilities and personalised service we had.
It is right on the beautiful beach and only a 2-hour drive from Singapore.
Unique Quality: 1. Great pool, with slide
2. Cute indoor play area - fantastic for rainy days
3. Excursion desk - great service (definitely recommend the fruit farm tour)

I stayed at the Desaru Hotel. There wasn't a lot around the area at that time but the hotel was pretty much self contained. There was a good Japanese restaurant there - I remember the saki well. There is a pool and the beach is right at the edge of the property. There was a lot of development going on around the area at that time which has no doubt been completed and expanded. A lot of golf courses being developed also.

Would like to plan a trip to Desaru for 10 adults and 8 children coming Jun 07.
Heard that the resorts available are very run down/not much facilities and therefore not worthly to travel there.
Please comments on that.
Do recommend other equivalent places also.

it is not true that the resorts are run down... you should stay either in pulai desaru beach resort (www.pulaisprings.com) or sebana cove golf & marine resort (www.sebanacove.com)... but just to remind you that the weekend rates are not cheap... there is really nothing much to see in desaru other than playing golf and relaxing by the sea (reading or doing nothing)... but if you are there, don't miss the seafood at good luck restuarant in sungai rengit... it is one of the best in malaysia that i have taken...

Is Sebana Cove in Desaru? Seem like it is situated at Kota Tinggi instead.
Beyond my limited knowledge of JB....
Seem like Sebana is not very near to the beach, is it true?
For big group that comprises adults and kids, do you recommend pulai desaru or sebana cove more?
Realised that there are apartments available in Sebana Cove, is that worth trying compared to the other accommodation type?
