This is the best hotel to stay in if you want to be really in the city center. The Persada Convention Centre is connected to the hotel. Next to it is a shopping complex known as Kotaraya which however is of not much interest to most visitors. Within walking distance is the bigger City Square and a stone's throw away you would reach the Causeway.
The hotel is one of the best (it was after all a Pan Pac) in town, so your stay would be great.

This hotel was known as The Puteri Pan Pacific Hotel but since the boughtover by the new owner, which is Johor Corporation, the proprietor no longer want and need the service of its operator, The Pan Pacific Hotels & Resorts.
With this new owner, I believe that they're doing much better than before. They have upgraded the hotel's facilities, layouts, services and appearance to a better standard of a 5 star hotel. It's most probably because of some new blood in the management team and financial pump-in.
The executive lounge isn't too bad. Complimentary beverages all day long and a mini breakfast and cocktail. Of course, you can't compare it with the ones in KL or Singapore but it's alright for JB.
As for the executive rooms, it's the same as the deluxe rooms unless they're upgraded it now. You can see Woodlands in Singapore, causeway, check-point, the city of Johor Bahru and the popular government office from the sea-view rooms. Rooms and lobby are spacious. The swimming pool is nice too. The tennis court's alright but a little run down the last time I was there. The gym is not too good though but like I said, it might be better now.
Unique Quality: Great view, facilities, location and price for a 5 star hotel.

The Puteri is a business class hotel next to the JB Convention Center and bus station. The place is very convenient for shopping and sight-seeing in JB.

Swimming pool -one big and one small- , tasty breakfast, 24 good service, piano in the middle of the reception where in the evenings someone is playing on it, elevators with glass so you can see all around Johor Bahru while going into your room and extremly clean hotel with a lot of orchids all around!

It is a five star hotel (i think). The room is nice and the staff are really friendly and helpful.
The food is okay i guess.
You can see Singapore from your window (if you get the one that faces the straits, that is).
Remember to ask for one of the re-furbished rooms.

I need some recommendations for cheap spa treats. Am writing an article on cheap spa treats in Johor Bahru and KL. Please feel free to drop me recommendations for spa treatments. Will be most helpful if you could provide the name of the place, the address and telephone number (and email address) if you have it... No hotels please, unless it's really cheap, good and offer wide variety of treatments - like scrub, body masks, facials, massages and hair treatments etc. Must be cheaper than S'pore.. May I suggest the Mutiara Johor Bahru (formerly known as the Crowne Plaza Hotel). They offer a wide range of well-being services. Or you may wish to try the Puteri Pan Pacific's the Life Spa. Have a great spa retreat a reasonable price!
