Ayurveda Treatment at Johor Bahru

"Shedding Fats The Natural Way"
Ayurvedic treatment has been a total fascination to me after I seen it in National Geographic Channel. Curing rare diseases, total body detoxification and slimming. Ayurveda dated as far as 1200 BC.
Finding myself loosing the battle to unhealthy weight gain and sluggishness prompts me for a total detoxification and slimming the natural way.
However to go to India sounded a bit far and difficult. Can't find in Singapore. But after some research, I found out that Ayur treatment centres are scattered Malaysia and one of the centre is in Johor Bahru!
The whole proccess is broken down into various stages depending your availability to go in for treatment.
Ayur Centre is located beside Tropical Inn Hotel. Just behind this Ayur Centre is the Kota Raya Bus terminal.

My diet went organic during this period of treatment. Fortunately, there is an organic products shop in Sentosa JB. Selling varieties of organic vegetables and even organic rice. And their prices are right too.

Fascinating Johor Bahru

"Johor Bahru Intro"
The southernmost Malaysian city of any size, JOHOR BAHRU – or simply JB – is the gateway into Singapore, linked to the city-state by a 1056-metre causeway, which is crossed by around 50,000 people a day. It also has good links to KL and Melaka, so there's little to detain you whichever direction you're travelling in. JB's one interesting attraction is the Istana Besar, the former residence of Johor's royal family. Surrounded by extensive gardens, it is a magnificent building set on a hillock overlooking the Johor Straits. To the right of the building is the ticket booth of the Museum Di Raja Abu Bakar (daily except Fri 9am–5pm; RM18), which displays gifts from foreign dignitaries, including stuffed tigers and daggers.
Larkin bus station is 3km away from the centre of JB on Jalan Geruda. Plenty of buses run from here to the causeway or you can catch a taxi for around RM5. The train station is slightly east of the city centre, off Jalan Tun Abdul Razak. Flights to JB land at Senai airport, 25km north of the city, from where a regular bus service (RM1.40) runs to the bus station. Heading out to the airport, MAS passengers can take the RM4 shuttle bus from outside the Tourist Information Centre. Alternatively, you can get a taxi to the airport for about RM25. The MAS office is at Level 1, Menara Pelangi, Jalan Kuning Taman Pelangi (tel 07/334 1001). To rent a car (cheaper than in Singapore) contact either Avis, at the Tropical Inn (tel 07/223 7971), or Hertz, JOTIC building (tel 07/223 7520).
The main Tourist Information Centre (JOTIC) (Mon–Fri 9am–5pm, Sat 9am–1pm; tel 07/222 3590) is on Jalan Air Molek, and there is also an office on the causeway (Mon–Fri 9am–5pm, Sat & Sun 9am–4pm; tel 07/224 9485). There are moneychangers in the main shopping centres, or try Maybank, 11 Jl Selat Tebrau; Bank Bumiputra, 51 Jl Segget; or OCBC, Jalan Ibrahim. There is also a brace of cashpoints on the south side of the Merlin Tower. Internet cafés are plentiful around City Square and the Komtar building.

Taxi Johor Bahru to Central Singapore
by Joyandbob
We will be finishing our Feb 2004 tour of Thailand and Malaysia in Singapore.
We have to drop the hired car off in Johor Bahru at either the Tropical Inn (Very central I think) or the airport (out of town at Senai ?).
We Could take a bus but have decided that we will take a taxi as
a. Expect it to be less complicated.
b. Don't at all fancy the idea of hauling suitcases on and off the bus twice to get across causeway from Malaysia to Singapore.
c. It gets us from door to door in one step
Question is - how much should a taxi be from central JB to central Singapore (assume Orchard road but we havent chosen our hotel yet) and how long is it likely to take (Saturday noon).

Tropical Inn is not situated where you can get public tranpsort easily. There are taxi services from JB taxi station to Singapore. Not all taxis can cross the causeway. Taxis with license to cross the causeway are only allowed to depart from the JB taxi station which is a multi storey building beside the Sikh Temple, along Jalan Wong Ah Fook.
From Tropical Inn, the taxi station is about 400m away. I think you would be better off with taking a taxi there (max RM5). It might not be very pleasant to walk there in the hot weather with luggages. The taxi will bring you a big round to reach the station because the roads there are mostly one way route. Maybe you can ask the rental company if they can give you a lift to the taxi station.
Oh yes, another thing I am not sure is that I think the taxi from JB can only alight passengers at Queen street station in Singapore, not anywhere else. I think there's a rule like that. If you are going into the restricted zone (Orchard Raod is within the zone) in Singapore, taxis from JB might not have the card reader to enter. If they can enter, there will be extra charges. Some taxi drivers might be willing to "illegally" alight you at where you want to go.
You might have to consider taking a taxi from JB to Bugis (flat rate from JB taxi station), then change to Singapore's taxi to wherever you want to go. It is very easy to hail a taxi around the station at Queen Street.
I think this will help...
