Kukup Seaview Homestay: Kukup Seaview Homestay

The Kukup Seaview Homestay was opened by fisherman Yeo Aik Lin and his wife Tey Hong Ling in 2008... The 7-bedroom concrete house on stilts commands a great view of the nearby mangrove and Malacca Straits...

The homestay offers 2 packages - a 2-day one-night package at RM90 per person... and another package from Singapore at RM239 per person that includes van transport from a designated pick-up point in Singapore... Both packages provide all meals, including a seafood barbecue in the evening... Guests enjoy a free flow of soft drinks and beverages such as homemade "chin chao" jelly and warm barley drinks... During the second day, guests get a sightseeing trip to a "kelong" or fish farm... It only costs an additional RM5 for a boat ride to nearby Kukup island, which is the world's second largest mangrove island...

The Kukup Seaview Homestay is spacious and clean, with an attached bathroom in all seven rooms... The place boasts two television sets, including a flat-screen LCD television with karaoke equipment and Astro channels... Guests can also pass their time with board games and mahjong...

Stilt houses - homestay: Stilt houses - homestay

Stilt houses - homestay, is RM70-RM80 per person, per night, dormitory room, all meals included, air cond, nice bathroom, perhaps Chinese language required.

At least 80 stilt houses open for business, visitors please Google their phone numbers, booking by phone is best, your cars will be arranged by the stilt house owner to park at a good sheltering and safety place at RM6 per 24 hours.

Kukup Breeze Resort, Johor, Malaysia: Great hostess

My family and I enjoyed the attention from our flame haired hostess to the utmost. She took care of all needs right from where we could park our vehicles, to the best place for seafood, down to a local tour of the fishing farms... My mom loved her potted flowers outside on the porch and boy did it make her happy to talk about them...You have to realise that the folks here opened their homes to visitors for such a small fee that such hospitality seems really amazing (Imagine strange ppl coming into your home!)...

-Watch our hostess slave over your BBQ dinner and you'll be amazed at this woman :) She kust keeps going!

-Loved her BBQ dinner! Chili paste was marvellous! And the seafood to be had there...mmm!

-We had a large family of about 10 but it wasn't a problem arranging to accomodate all of us...

-Great shots to be taken at dusk and night, if you're an avid photographer!

-Loved the kelong visit! Fun!

Above the Sea: Sleep on the sea

Since the Kukup surrounded by sea, most of the building are build above the sea - including accomodation for visitors travel in Kukup.

Above the sea, really enjoy the sea atmosphere.

Tanjung Piai Resort: Tanjung Piai Resort

The Tanjung Piai Resort is located at the southern tip of Johor state... and close to the southern-most tip of mainland Asia... Tanjung Piai Resort lies secluded and has 13 chalets, a seafood restaurant, a luxurious lounge with karaoke facilities for 50 guests and a meeting room also for 50 persons. All rooms take in the view of the open sea and the passing ships to the Johor port of Tanjung Pelepas... You can have a quiet holiday watching macaques (monkeys), tree-climbing mudskippers and fireflies in the largest mangrove nature park...

The resort is on stilts over the Tebrau Strait... You can also see Singapore across the waters of the Tebrau Strait...

Hai Tang Resort: Kukup Chalet

This is the new chalet in Kukup that one of our friend recommended. The owner is very friendly. The chalet is new and the back of the house is windy. You can see a sunrise and sunset from the front and back of the house respectively.
We took a RM70 package which provide us lunch, after lunch tea, dinner, breakfast, seafood lunch @ restaurant and a short tour. We went for the mangrove tour with the boat.

The place is windy and new. We like the unblock view front and back of the house. We like specially the sunrise and sunset view of the house.

Hello Leisure Resort: Cheap package

This is the third time for me to have a 2D1N stay in Kukup and although it has been many years the prices haven't really gone up as some other places.. We took a RM70 package which provide us lunch, after lunch tea, dinner, breakfast, lunch and a short tour.

The resort is considered clean and tidy. And the friendly owner did take good care of us.

Various chalets: Water Chalet Houses@ Kukup

On one of my trips to Kukup, I walked around the stilty village and talked to the locals over there. To my surprise, I found out that there were quite a number of nice chalet houses available for rental. One such chalet house that I popped in held a big group of Christians who were there for a nice rustic retreat.

You'll be living in a house on stilts, facing the Straits Channel so do expect gorgeous views during sunset and sunrise. You can also catch views of fishermen in their small motorised boats chugging home with the day's catch and many women sitting around, shelling clams.
