East Coast Backpackers: Best Backpackers Place to Stay!
Wow! Friendly, clean with great staff and western food, this is an excellent place to stay! They offer you UNBIASED information for getting to Tioman and can help you arrange your trip there, even if you are not a guest (we were guests there though). Rocky knows the area of Mersing well and when we were looking for a gas cartridge that we had not found anywhere in all the countries that we have been to, she sent us to a place that had them! The meals here are also great!
Unique Quality: Relaxed, homely atmosphere - returning here from Tioman is like returning home :-)

Hotel Timotel: Just Another hotel!
I have stayed in this hotel once when Seri Malaysia is fully booked. The place is quite Clean.

Kali's Guest House: The guest house with Balinese Ambience?
There are many places to stay in Mersing such as Raja Villa, Timotel, Sri Malaysia, Kali’s Guest House and many more for you to choose that suit your budget. I have stayed at Kali's Guest House before. The owner is trying to put some Balinese ambience to this guest house and he is quite Friendly. WITH EFFECT, KALI'S GUEST HOUSE HAS BEEN DEMOLISHED for god knows what reason.
Unique Quality: Friendly staff, Balinese ambience and a very reasonable price...less than US$22.

Mersing Hotel: Late Night Stay Over
Arrive at Mersing about 22:30, It was dark and we were looking for Embassy or Country Hotel but end up at Mersing Hotel. Room with a Double bed, a Single Bet, Hot Shower and TV goes for 50MYR. Two Double beds 55MYR. Everythings (Air Con, Heater and TV) work but i won't rate it high for cleanliness. But overall it's ok to stay overnight and catch the boat next morning..

Country Hotel: Nice rooms for a nice price
Clean rooms with clean bathrooms for a good price, 40rm per night. If you ever need to transit in Mersing for a night you may consider this motel, it is of walking distance to the pier. There's even a balconey!

Hotel Country: Hotel Country
RM40 per room of two person with air-con, bathroom attached, condition good, balcony able to view directly at bus station and supermarket, very close to many good restaurants day and night, car parking outside as in photo, but make sure you understand the paying system otherwise they will summon you.

Omar's backpackers hotel: Another popular backpacker's joint
I didn't stay here but was drawn to the island hopping tours here. A dorm bed over here cost only RM8, room with a double bed, RM20.
Unique Quality: Omar organises Island Hopping Tour for RM$70 per person. It includes the boat, the guide, the snorkeling equipment and a picnic lunch. A minimum of 4 people are however required.
They also have a kitchen.
