Awana Hotel Genting: Poor and rude reception
Stayed at this hotel for some business related event. Very rude receptionist who asked me "hey you already checked in, so why are you checking in again?". A rather silly question to ask a guest who was waiting in the queue to check in for the first time and waiting in the queue for 20 minutes. 3 other receptionists saw me waiting in the queue but did nothing to hasten the registration process. who in their right mind would want to check in twice anyway?
Receptionists should be trained to be more customer friendly especially to Malaysians!
Went to information counter to ask about express bus service only to be met by an Iranian young boy manning the counter. He coudn't understand what I wanted. then why put him in the information section?
The ceiling of the hallway leading to our conference room leaked and they placed a bucket right in the middle of the alleyway!
Wouldn't recommend this place.

Embun Emas homestay, Junjong, Kedah, Malaysia: Homestay in Malaysian orchard
We stayed at this bungalow meant for 4 people. fully furnished. you can see pictures onhttp://embunemashomestay.blogspot.com It is new and is in the midst of a fruit orchard. We got served straight from the trees:jackfruit and rambutans. durians were not ripe yet. However along the road to Kulim there are stalls selling beautiful durians. We had a feast. The management of the place is very friendly and helpful. The market is just across the road and next door is the police station. Very nice resort, quiet and rustic setting. would highly recommend for family with children as there is a bigger bungalow next door. We hired a car for RM140 per day from Buttwerworth railway station.
cost of stay for the day for 4 adults RM140.00. no towels provided but there is hotwater shower. coffee, tea and sugar provided, electric rice cooker, kuali (wok), kettle, fridge, iron, Astro TV. Flexible hours . We checked in 10 a.m and checked out 8.30 p.m same day
Unique Quality: In a Malay kampung (village), right amongst fruit trees of mangosteens, jackfruits, durians, rambutans, star fruits. Very peaceful and quiet retreat.
