    Decent accomodations for a reasonable price.
    Hotel is decorated with lots of balinese figures/masks so ambience feels more Indonesian than Malaysian over here.
    Also, there are quaint waxed paper umbrellas all over the place so no need to worry if it rains at all.

    The resort is right at the beach so you get great views when you dine at the resort's restaurant.
    Also,polite and excellent service from hotel staff.
    Waiters took the trouble to lay out cutlery
    properly even though we dined al fresco.
    Tables/ Chairs are on the sandy beach so you'll be able to dig your toes into the sand even as you eat.

    Entering the Beach Garden Resort past the stone guards gives you immediately the feeling to be cut off completely from the outside world. A short jungle path heading west leads through a lush green jungle like garden, past a small pond down to the beach. At the end of the path when you step out of the shadow of the canopy the bright sunshine reflects on a spot of white, fine sand.

    It is the open air part of the Beach Garden Resort restaurant, the beer garden. Protected by a sun sail this is an ideal place to enjoy a cool beer from the keg and enjoy the sunset at the same time.

    This is a really less expensive place for staying - and great... MY BEST TIP so far!!!!

    The dormitories are simply furnished and have a small bath with shower. If you go out of your room, it takes you not more than two feet and your are directely at the paradisiac sandy beach from Pantai Cenang.

    On the right handside from the motel you will find the Beach Garden Resort with its nice beergarden and a few steps on the left handside you find the Pantai Cenangs Reggae Bar - a nice bar at the beach, where you can meet a lot of nice people.

    Sandy Beach Resort
    by phil_uk_net
    Looking at the picture, I guess that this is a lot of peoples' ideal of the perfect beach bungalow. It looks nice and rustic, close to the sea, and in a setting of palm tress. Well, not for me unfortunately. I am not bothered about being right on the beach. I read somewhere that for Germans this is the most important thing for them - an interesting piece of trivia. I had actually paid for a couple of nights at the Sandy Beach but then discovered it was swarming with mosquitoes (no exaggeration) so got my money back and left. These type of huts are getting old and the construction is such that the door does not fit properly, the insect nets are broken and there are holes everywhere. It is an open house for mosquitoes and a mosquito net at night is quite essential. Perhaps I'm being a bit paranoid but I read a lot. Mosquito bites at the best of times are uncomfortable and unsightly. If you are unlucky then there are a host of mosquito-borne diseases that are really nasty. Malaria is still a huge killer on the world today. Dengue Fever is nasty and can be life threatening if it results in Dengue Haemorhaging Fever (DHF). Dengue is carried by the Aedes mosquito, active by daytime, amd is a problem in SE Asia.

    Besides the mosquito problems, there are other things I do not like about this kind of accommodation. I find the dark wood, lack of daylight and lack of room inside the bungalows very claustrophic. They are also not the cleanest of places. The bedding and tiny, threadbare towel you are normally well past their best. Toilets and washing facilities are, mmmm .... basic. This means just a cold shower and a non-flushing toilet - a plastic bowl is provided which has to be filled with water and slooshed down the toilet to remove waste.

    I've stayed in this type of place before and will probably do so again but it isn't what I enjoy. Feeling so ill on this trip to Langkawi, I need a few home comforts. It's your choice, of course.

    Best Star Resort from the road

    I'm getting soft as I get older but I do like a basic degree of comfort when I'm travelling. I also have an aversion to mosquitoes which makes a lot of the cheap and cheerful places almost unbearable for me. The Best Star Resort will not be everyone's ideal choice but for me it was perfect. Having arrived on Langkawi feeling very sick (the start of a chest infection) and stressed out I needed some clean, roomy, comfortable and free of biting insects.

    It is a new place and has open been open just a few months, I believe. The rooms are large and spotlessly clean. Sitting on the bed or walking barefoot on the carpet doesn't make you cringe, like some other places I've stayed in.

    Superior rooms go for RM105, Junior Suites with a beach view RM150, and Suites with a beach view RM250. I arrived at the start of Ramadan and Cenang was really quiet so they let me have a room for RM95. I stayed in one of the lowest priced rooms and it was a good size so the Suites must be huge.

    There is a RM10 surcharge on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month and during school holidays. The peak season surcharge (festive holidays) is RM20. As always, prices are subject to the laws of supply and demand. If it's busy be thankful for getting a room. If it's quiet you should be able to haggle for a bargain.

    Facilities include A/C, hot water showers with a large dispenser of liquid soap, big fluffy towels, TV and a desk in the rooms. It is Muslim run and the staff are extremely friendly. I also had confidence that things wouldn't go missing from my room or that my credit card wouldn't be 'borrowed', as has happened in Thailand in the past. Breakfast is included in the room charge, nothing extravagant but quite sufficient - eggs, toast, jam, tea or coffee.

    Recently (October 2006), I'd stayed in this hotel because my family house in Langkawiis fully occuppied with other relatives the came back from all over the states in Malaysia to celebrate Aidil Fitri. As my family house is within Kuah area, I decided to stay nearby so that I can easily travel on and off to the house.

    City Bayview is situated in the heart of Kuah main town. Its the only hotel that really has a good setup in the town area.

    The room that I'd stayed (deluxe) is spacious and very comfortable. Bed is huge, great view and complete with TV and coffee making facilities. The bathroom also is very big and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful.

    Lots of amenities and facilities offered here in the City Bayview such as Gymnassium, Coffee House, Chinesse Restaurant, Swimming Pool, Business Centre etc.

    I'd notice a few area can be improved :-
    a) Housekeeping should top up tea and coffee sachet during making up the room
    b) Housekeeping should provide new shower gel, shampoo and soap during making up the room.
    c) The sound from the aircond vent can the reduce more to ensure 100% relaxation to guest.
    d) Daily breakfast buffet should have more variety of foods to choose.
    e) The Facility Dept. should ensuring the room is ant free at all time.
    f) TV remote should be placed in the room rather than guest to request for it.

    1) Entertainment centre is inside this hotel. There is a karaoke at the ground level.
    2) Spa that offers massage services is also inside the hotel. (Alun - Alun Spa)

    Tanjung Rhu Resort Langkawi
    On the island of Langkawi (lang-kah-wee), the rhythm of life remains much as it has in days gone by. A coastline dotted with fishing boats, rustic villages, and a horizon that twinkles with the brilliance of a thousand stars at dusk.

    Nowhere is this more apparent than in a cape in the northernmost tip of the island, Tanjung Rhu (tan-joong-roo) - a scenic and untouched enclave nestled in the shade of luxuriant casuarina trees.

    Here lies the Tanjung Rhu Resort - a deluxe resort fringing the long, magnificent bay that leads to the clear, cool waters of the Andaman Sea.

    The easy-life charm of Tanjung Rhu echoes through the resort, tingeing the luxuries of a deluxe property, with a casual, unhurried ambience.

    Welcome drinks, fruit basket and cold towels are our way to wish you 'Selamat Datang' (Welcome). Guests have a choice of rooms at the 136-room Tanjung Rhu Resort:

    * Damai - 50 sqm
    * Cahaya - 60sqm
    * Bayu Suria - 80sqm
    * Bayu Senja - 80sqm
    * Anjung - 100 sqm

    Each room is spacious, with timber floors and large windows, to take advantage of the tropical breezes and sea view. Employing the best of the Asian-Eastern influence, our decor is complemented with upholstery and drapes in soft Thai silk and pure Indian cotton fabrics.

    All rooms are equipped with TV, video and compact disc player, private bar and oversized bath with separate shower. Bayu and Anjung rooms are equipped with dataport.

    The room is small and decorated in teak wood furniture. The only bad thing is the shower is warm and not hot. So if you want to take a shower in the morning just be warn as it’s not so nice. Breakfast was fresh fruit, eggs, cereal, juice, coffee and tea. The good thing is the staff are very friendly.

    We were in this island for 3 days and it rain 2 days out of the 3 days and we were given umbrellas during this time.

    I love the beautiful landscaped and tropical garden with flowering plants, shrubs and lush palm grove. I also like the soft cascading water falls and lily padded ponds which is very tranquil and calming. The beach is also beautiful and it worth a dip. I like the sandy white sand.

    Located right by the beach in Pantai Cenang, Sunset Beach Resort is a very nice quiet hotel made up of small "Chalet" built with the Balinese design. It is locate right by the Underwater World and during off season i managed to get their best room for RM150 per night. The staff are extremely friendly and they take the effort to learn and address each of their guests by first names. The surrounding is kept extremely clean and beautiful with many different plants and trees. Breakfast consists of egg, toast, coffee , 3 slices of fruits and half a sausage!...hey.... cant expect more for the price ur paying!

    There is NO swimming pool, NO cable television but the room had a beautiful and romantic bathroom!
