Langkawi's best

About 30/40 minutes drive from langkawi airport, its a 502 room resort, beautifuly sits on the island's 500- million year old tropical rainforest - Home to Unesco’s World GeoPark !

The Malaysian style chalets are built on stilts surrounding the rainforest, offering as extraordinary back-to-nature experince. I had an experince to stay with a forest view and it was great feeling !

They have good services and facilities; but its kinda far from the town about 30 - 40 mins drive, so its recommended fo ppl who wanna be away from the town.

Unique Quality: It is built into the rainforest so you do get visits from wildlife, so always keep the balcony door and window locked to prevent mosquitos, bugs, Iguanas and yes monkeys too .. from entering !

Birdlife is very abundant with Hornbills and Mynahs being the main species and you will probably see some Sea Eagles as well which live on the mountain cliffs behind the resort.

The Hotel also have a section of the beach and it is well used as the pool.

Beside this the Langkawi Cable Car is also located right beside the hotel, the hotel buggy can take take you in 5 minutes and thats a must vist attraction !

One caution - the internet services are very pathetic and can be very annoying specially if you have some urgent matter to deal at night time !

Chalets in the rainforest or on the water

I really liked beeing there, the location was wonderfull.
There are single, double and quarter, wooden chalets build on stilts in the rainforest or on the water, in different categories. We had a Superior Chalet RM 450 in the woods with a little ocean view. It was comfortable, but the bathroom needs an update.
The service is good, restaurants excellent, beach and water clean.

Unique Quality: Dayang Cafe has a menue card for vegetariens

Berjaya Langkawi Beach and Spa Resort

We spent a very comfortable few days at this hotel.
Whilst we did not use all the advertised facilities and amenities, but what we did use we found to be very good.
Service was excellent with the staff friendly and courteous.
Our room was clean and serviced daily. Room service was very cheap and comparable to the restaurant prices, although the minibar prices were inflated.
Our Room/Chalet did overlook the sea and we were about 500 yards from the beach in the jungle.
This resort is built on a hillside and although it is serviced by transport to the Main Reception access to the rooms/chalets can be challenging for disabled guests with lots of steep steps.

Unique Quality: It's great selling point is that it is built into the rainforest so you do get visits from wildlife. Watch out for the monkeys as they attack if provoked, so do not attempt to feed them as another may attack you for feeding another one. They are wild animals.

Jungle Retreat in Malay style

Our package included air tickets, 3D2N stay with breakfast - RM1400.00
Stayed in the Superior Chalet No. 3210 - not too far from the resort lobby (not too near either if by foot). It was a nice single unit chalet with King size bed and a day bed.
Bathroom was OK, shower was leaking though.
Remember to bring own toothbrush & toothpaste - not provided.
TV reception was poor but not a main problem.
No insect crawling in our chalet, only outside near entrance door.
Breakfast was with limited choice of food for the price of RM42.00 per pax. But our package included breakfast for 2 adults. My kids under 4 ate for free.
No daily newspapers provided.....

Unique Quality: Shuttle bus service was superb! Can get on one only a few minutes after calling for one. But we must wait in front of our chalet if not the driver will think we have gotten in another bus.
Insect spray & electrical mosquito repellant are provided, in case of "emergency"!
Two umbrellas and sandals were provided - very thoughful.

Berjaya Beach and Spa Resort

We found this Hotel and its facilities to be comparable to most of the hotels on Langkawi of its type, although it claims a four star rating I would be prepared to give a 3.5.
The accomodation is really in need of sprucing up, although it is pretty reasonable, it is the more minor things which need attention like a coat of paint in places.
I think you need also to take into consideration that it is set amongst a sizeable piece of rain forest and so damp can play a part here.
You may also get your fair share of wildlife paying a visit including monkeys, lizards, birds and insects. Mosquitos are also here as well, so come prepared although the Management do provide sprays and coils in the rooms.
I would say the accomodation is of a high basic level and includes air con and fans.

Unique Quality: The location of the resort is superb set amongst the rain forest with the accomodation being in "chalet" type villas which are both detached and semi detached. There are the usual facilities of several pools and access to a beach with superb views which is fairly shallow so it is ideal for children.
I would not recommend it for people with mobility problems as it has steep bendy roads, but there are regular shuttle buses running around but there are steep steps up to the villas.
It has good restaurants and bars as well as a Spa with various massage treatments available which my wife raved over.
Food was reasonably priced (including Room Service), although drinks could be expensive.
The Staff were very friendly, courteous and smiling.

laid back - relaxing

Have visited this resort for the past four years, hoping to get back there this November.
Accomodation consists of Malay style chalets, set in the rain forest, mostly facing the sea. Overall the chalets are great although the bathrooms could do with an overhaul, we have always found the staff to be helpful and friendly. Don't visit without going on the cable car.
If you go into Kuah, eat at the roution(?) restaurant, next to the night market. Very basic, wonderful food, everything cooked to order.
Nearer to home, the sea shell bar,Mutiara, Burau Bay is fantastic.
Some of our best holiday memories come from this happy place. The staff are so welcoming, can't wait to see them again. If you visit in the evening they will provide you will transport back to the Berjaya, free of charge.
Have always found Langkawi to be a great place to totally unwind.

Unique Quality: Have woken up on a couple of occasions to find monkeys viewing us through the the patio windows, much as we would do with them at a zoo

most overrated hotel in langkawi

this place is mighty popular!! we were there mid week and it was fully booked!! it was pretty surprising as we were told this place cost a minimum of rm400 per room per night (the nice water chalets are rm2000 per night)!! anyway, this place has all the trappings of a beach resort.. beach activities.. pool.. bars.. spa.. chalets on the water.. we got a chalet up in the jungle.. a bit old and not very well kept.. well, it was ok for us as we didn't pay for it.. but if u are going to pay , you might just wanna think twice about it! ;)

Unique Quality: chalets sprawled across a huge area by the sea and up into the jungle equals privacy.. that's great but this also means that we had to call for a shuttle everytime we wanted to go out / to the lobby / to the beach / to the pool / etc..
