Travel Tips for Pulau Langkawi

Scenic Views

by batgirl1001

If you want to catch scenic views of the island not from the heights of Gunung Mat Chinchang, then a drive around the northern, sparsely populated area around Langkawi is a must. You can catch beautiful seas, islands and breathtaking sceneries from the beaches and cliffs off the northern part of the island.

The best scenic spot is just a kilometre right off the rest area. At the rest area, you will find a local food restaurant and several outdoor eating spots. But the view there is not as enticing.

You can find anything there

by elmasri

I always travel light. I took bikini x 2, swimsuit, beach skirt, 2 tops and the clothes on the trip, which were white linen trousers a white shirt and cotton cardigan. light tennis shoes on the trip and flat sandals x 1. I tought I was going to need the tennis to do all the walking around but nope, the sandals did the trick. Anyway travelling so light meant I needed to go shopping... lol Cothes are very cheap in Malaysia, but expect to pay same prices for branded names like Guess, Armani, etc. I always carry mosquito repellent, imodium and aloe vera gel, of which I always and only use the latter. If you need any specific medication take it with you. cameras, camcorder, memory cards mp3 players and other electrical goods can very cheaply be bought in Langkawi so if you are unsure what to buy here do not dispair, wait and you will find it there.

Long cycle to cooling waterfall

by hugo501

If you staying at the Tanjung Rhu you must go on the cycle to the waterfall with the hotel guide.. Its a bit long but goes thru this cool swamp like area.. There's a bit of a hill to go up towards the waterfall and then there's a small trek.. But on a hot day its all worth it cos the water is amazing.. Very refreshing!

Enjoy the beach

Boats leave the Awana Hotel in Langkawai, several times a day to take hotel guests to Beras Basah Island. It has powdery white sand, blue green waters, and a lot of trees for shade. Do some snorkelling or swimming--or simply relax in the sun. Watch the hermit crabs scurring about.

Sunsuria

by ahcoln

Sunsuria is the duty free shop within the Fair Shopping Mall in Langkawi. We were quite confused on the definition of "biggest", before we finally found out that Fair Shopping Mall is the biggest shopping mall in Langkawi, while Teow Soon Huat is the biggest Duty Free Shopping Mall in Langkawi.
