Romantic getaway
The hotel is a little dated but well maintained. The room we got when we got there was not the most impressive but it was clean. The hotel itself is nicely situated on Pantai Tengah and the view is very scenic. There are water sports like para-sailing and jetskis on offer. The hotel features an outdoor swimming pool as well as a ladies' only indoor pool.
There are many restaurants outside of the hotel to suit all kinds of tastes, from Japanese and Western to local flavours like Chinese and Malay. I recommend this hotel for a honeymoon stay.. but make sure you get a room with a seaview.
A five minute drive away will bring you to the Langkawi Aquarium and there are many tiny shops to shop for souvenirs.
Unique Quality: The sunsets are great and the beach is reasonably clean.

romantic and soothing setting
very pleasant -
stayed there 3 night.
The rooms were alright , may be the furniture might have been a bit old, but that was ok , no complain.
the room had a balcony, overlooking the pools and the beach and the sun set was amazing.the hotel had a private beach , so no need to take a walk to the beach ,
just step down the lobby , a few steps and right there at the beach -
with beach chairs .

Excellent Value for Money
This is a good quality 4 star hotel. We stayed in a deluxe room ground flooor pool access (rooms 030 & 031 are great). Rooms are large, a bit dated, but reasonably clean, good TV reception, fridge, wireless internet (abt US$10 day), good bathroom with shower over bath.
Unique Quality: The pool and direct beach access are the highlights - stronmgly recommend getting a deluxe room on the ground floor.

Beautiful Beach Resort close to the Airport
The Service was good and the facilities were excellent. I've read some bad reviews abt this Hotel in tripadvisor and was initially hesitant to go for this hotel but the fact that I selected this hotel is because it has a private beach and it's close to the Airport/Underwater world(though we didn't visit this). I guess the reason for the bad reviews about the service was because they would have visited during holiday season when it will be more crowded. The food was excellent and wasn't that costly.
Unique Quality: They had a beautiful Swim-up bar where you can swim up to the bar and order your drinks/snacks and have it there itself standing/sitting in the water. The resort has a private beach with all the water sports activities. You can see a beautiful sunset in the evening. There is a beautiful spa run by the Indonesian girls mostly from Bali. It's not that costly for the quality of service they provide. You need to book in advance to avoid disappointments.

Right Hotel at the Right Place
Holiday Villa is located at Pantai Tengah which is just a kilometre away from Pantai Cenang, the most happening place in Langkawi. The hotel covers a large sprawling area and has a beach of its own which is dominated by hotel guests. The beach is clean, pure white-brown sand with idylic calm waves and pretty sunsets.
It is in a secluded bay of its own and thus privacy is ensured although beaches in Langkawi are public access. The majority of the beach resorts and crowds throng Pantai Cenang and thus would not walk that far to come to Pantai Tengah.
The hotel has a large swimming pool, jacuzzi, deep end pool and a separated kiddies pool enough for all guests. There are plenty of deck chairs around the pool and this is a plus point. It has a 24-hour main restaurant, Italian restaurant, swimming pool bar and beach bar which adequately meet the needs of all guests. However as most tourists and guests, there are plenty of nearby food outlets and restaurants outside the hotel and nearby Pantai Cenang that most of the guests just go out to eat even in the late hours of the night.
For the price you are paying the hotel is not really so much about value-for-money as the furnishings in the hotel rooms are simple, adequate but rather outdated. But it is an efficiently-run, clean hotel and even in the late night (around 11pm when I asked for a kettle) service is quite fast.
Unique Quality: It has a private womens-only swimming pool located inside the multi-purpose building intentionally built for Islamic women who prefer to swim in private.
Extensions are available but costly and also based on the hotel's discretion. For Singaporean guests who fly directly on Silkair flights (evenings) the extensions are charged per hour and gets expensive from 5-6pm.

Affordable and in paradise
Although this is not the upmarket (fancy) end of the scale this hotel was quite affordable and very comfortable. We had just finished a tiring European tour and we were after something where we could just lie around on the beach and recharge our batteries. The Holiday Villa in Langkawi was perfect for this. The beach was sublime - very quiet and relaxing - with various sporting activities for those so inclined. The hotel pool is large and not crowded. The restaurants in the complex were fine - breakfast was the standard buffet and perfectly acceptable. The rooms were comfortable although (as often happens in Asia) the air-conditioning seemed to be consistently too cold. It's lovely to step into after a day on the beach - but it's like an icebox after several hours. The hotel was very close to plenty of nice cheap restaurants for an evening meal. We have stayed there twice now.

A friendly relaxed resort
The staff here were very friendly.The room was clean tidy and very roomy.They had theme nights .eg. barbeque on the beach. and continental dinners.
Happy hour was at 5 pm every day. 2 for the price of 1 drinks

Relaxing Stays
Now this is a typical 4-star hotel, except for the fact that I can only rate it a 3-star.
Pools are good, beach is clean, hotel rooms are fine, but the staff. I have dealt with several of them, and honestly I dont quite like em.
They seemed really rude when I become more demanding. When I asked them to send me two more clean laundry bags, they showed me the faces.
There's one female trainee who loved doing all the frowning and eye brow things when I asked her if I could use their lobby phone to call my friend's room.
And there's one manager (Cant remember his name) acted just like a child when my friends and I insisted having dinner by the beach . He said the weather forecast predicted a rain in the evening, so he STRONGLY suggested us having it in the restaurant. But when we called the weather forecast officer in Penang, he said there would be no rain, no cloud for the whole day.
There the manager put on the fight with us.
Besides the staff, overally, it's a pretty nice hotel.
Unique Quality: Get a room with pool view.
Try the Spa there. Pretty rejuvenating.
Oh yeah, having dinner by the beach is really romantic! I forgot to tell you all that we won the battle at the end, there wasnt any rain, and we had our dinner by the beach!

HOLIDAY IN PARADISE
This hotel was lovely. Daily room service meant you got fresh linen every day if you wanted. The staff were so helpfull it was a pleasure to stay there.
Unique Quality: They had a swim up bar .Which meant you could stay in the pool , swim up to the bar adn enjoy a drink. Every night in one of the two restaurants they had theme nights. Example seafood barbecue which was cooked on the beach.

Pantai Tengah's Best
The breakfast is awesome !
There are always taxis waiting for you outside the hotel. Its not a problem to get a transport to go anywhere you like.
Unique Quality: The pool is quite big with jacuzzi. And they even have an indoor pool next to the squash court meant only for women. (The hotel is quite popular among the Arab tourists). The indoor pool is not very big and the water is about 3-4 feet deep.
Next to the Villas' building is previously a government run hotel, namely Federal Lodge and is now taken over by Holiday Villa. I would prefer to stay at the Lodge where the buildings are in rows and your door is not facing others'. If you make reservation for the Lodge make sure to ask whether it includes breakfast or not. You may have to pay extra for the breakfast .

Accommodation on Langkawi
G'day,
We are a couple from Perth, WA in our 60's, fit, and with a taste for seafood, tropical fruit and beer.
For many years we have travelled to Bali but have decided that this May we will give Langkawi a go.
With respect to accommoation, we have circiled Holiday Villa Langkawi and Pelangi Beach Resort.
Has anyone stayed at either property lately?
We would be interested in comments w r t locality and service.. Many thanks Bob B...

Sorry, can not advise you on accomodation in Langkawi, as I 've been there while cruising on Superstar Virgo ship. But even being there for one day brought a little surprise 6 month later:(
Somehow my credit cards details (not card itself)were stolen while duty free shopping. Luckily ANZ bank people noticed some strange movement of fund in my credit card a/c and notified me immediatley.
So, you can't even trust duty free shop at Langkawi.

Hi there,
Pelangi Beach resort is better known amongst the locals - not so sure about Holiday Villa tho.. Are you guys extremely picky with service et al? Just thought you would like to know that Langkawi is a duty free zone hence liqour can be cheaper than Coke. In comparison to Bali, Bali's night life is very well-known while visitors to Langkawi are usually those who want a languid, quiet area for some R&R.

We stayed at the Pelangi Beach Resort about 4 years ago. You stay in these tree top chalets, very interesting. The grounds are quite sprawling so you can catch a golf cart to get back to the lobby. The resort wasn't bad, great breakfast buffet.
