I was in Langkawi recently - I did not see any heli tours advertised but I was not looking for it.

Unlike say Grand Canyon, helicopter tours are uncommon in Malaysia, expensive and perceived unsafe due to high number of helicopter crashes in the military in the past.

I would recommend the cable car in Langkawi - excellent bird's eye view of the island.

Dear Sir,
Yes, CIG GLOBAL HELICOPTER TOURS & SERVICES operates from Bandar Baru Baron, Kuah, Langkawi. Uses a Robinson R44 (3 passenger). The prices are basically based at RM72.00 per minute which allows up to 3 passengers per flight. Packages range from 12/18/24/36 minutes. Also available (subject to availability only) is the RM88.00 per person promotion but charged per flight regardless for 3 persons (RM264.00). This is the "Eagle Square Helicopter Experience Flight".

Dear Sir, it is true that there are no other company in Malaysia except for CIG GLOBAL HELICOPTER TOURS & SERVICES that operates of Langkawi doing Helicopter Joyrides in the name of Tourism. As for your comment on crashes in Malaysia, NO R44 Helicopter ever crashed and being in military and comparing it to a company that provides Joyrides are 2 total different matters. We strictly adhere to Malaysian DCA rules & regulations. We dont fly if wind/rain or thunder conditions are strong. We follow the "where safety meets the skies" rules very seriously. For everyones info, CIG has flown over 600 joyrides since its maiden joyride flight on the 15th of December 2009 carrying over 1600 passengers to the skies of Langkawi. Malaysia is very good enough to be compared to any Helicopter Joyride company in the world today, well the LOWEST FARE IN THE WORLD is done by CIG GLOBAL HELICOPTER TOURS & SERVICES at only RM88.00 per person (that's approximately USD26.00 ONLY). I am not blowing the trumpet for CIG but to a Malaysian company that dared and is currently succeeding so far...

Travel Tips for Pulau Langkawi

A little bit of respect for the hosting locals

by Loubna

Ladies, remember this is mainly a Muslim country so no top less on the beach. If you look closely you will see that even Indian Malaysians and Chinese Malaysians bathe clothed.

When walking in the street back to your chalet etc dress decently and not in your swimming suit as a mark of respect to the locals :o)

Diving in Pulau Payar

by bpacker

Honestly speaking, diving is not top-notch over here. Viz and coral life can be better. But this is a good place to dive if you love lobsters, barracudas, sharks and bannerfish. There's lots of these little fellas out here. Check out the giant barracuda and the giant grouper if you happen to be at the house reef. Arranged my dive trip with EastMarines at Royal Langkawi Yacht Club.
A two tank dive cost me about RM220.
The staff were very friendly, professional and re-assuring.

Waterfalls, a la natural

by SuzanBengtsson

Remember to rent a motorbike to explore this little island. There are few water falls in this island. The one worth exploring would be TELAGA TUJUH. it is sited in the north-western corner of Pulau Langkawi, so named because its cascading waters is broken by a series of seven natural pools. The surrounding lush green forest of the waterfall adds a mystical touch to the natural splendour.

Remember to bring your swimsuit!!

Best in town

by Imbi about Complex Membeli- Belah

It is the biggest one roof shopping place in Langkawi. It is located in Kuah, and have different kind of shops. I will not say it is shoppers paradise but still it is like a paradise when you enter in this air conditioned shopping centre when it is 35 C outside.
